A degree is always useful.
Yes my GPA is 1.62 out of 4.Originally posted by browniebaobao:go study for a degree when u are prepared to.
u are not prepared for it now ba.
1.62 GPA outta 4?
this result can still apply uni?
i believe by then u will know what u want.Originally posted by isolation:Yes my GPA is 1.62 out of 4.
Also at least for now I am not prepared to study for a distance-learning degree but in a few years time when I have earned enough money for school fees and industry experiences I might be ready for it.
Anyway, for this kind of result, I don't expect to be admitted in local Unis anyway.![]()
For me I would like to look for a job that I enjoy doing. I am more interested in electronics stuffs compared to business stuffs so I didn't take any business courses as my field to study.Originally posted by FireIce:i wun say it's a must
but it's good to have
however, u got to choose the path u wanna take
are u jus looking for a job tt feeds u well or something tt u enjoy doing
and it's hard to say wat things will be like a few yrs down the road.......so do make the right choice, the one tt is best for urself.....
So what you mean is that the business sector is more difficuit in looking for a job? Because I thought that there are good prospects in the business, finance and marketing sector when I saw many engineering, IT and chemical diploma holders going to SIM to study business.Originally posted by FireIce:electronics is niche
meaning, if u haf some luck, u get a good job in a good co. with good pay
biz is general......good as a supplement.......
everywhere oso ppl from biz background, how do u stand out? how do u excel?
in my opinion, it may be better equip with a engineering degree, supplemented by a MBA. or at least a diploma in engineering supplemented by a bizness degree.Originally posted by isolation:So what you mean is that the business sector is more difficuit in looking for a job? However, I saw that there are much more distance-learning degrees for business courses compared to electronics engineering, I know that it will be difficuit for me if I want to take a distance-learning degree for electronics engineering or its relevant.
Hmm........ For the latter part, care to elaborate more on the advantages of doing so? Thanks!Originally posted by Ah Cek:in my opinion, it may be better equip with a engineering degree, supplemented by a MBA. or at least a diploma in engineering supplemented by a bizness degree.
as u move up the corporate ladder, u wld need more decision making tools in areas of financial and accounting, human resource managment, marketing, among others. u can acquire these knowledge with a bizness degree.Originally posted by isolation:Hmm........ Hmm...... For this part I have to see whether I will get involved in decision making of a department of a company in the future.Originally posted by Ah Cek:as u move up the corporate ladder, u wld need more decision making tools in areas of financial and accounting, human resource managment, marketing, among others. u can acquire these knowledge with a bizness degree.
the stone will bounce and hit a few other degree-holdersOriginally posted by ditzy:You shouldn't get it in future, you should get it now!!! Coz in future, we'll be looking at masters and phds. Just go to orchard road and throw a stone anyhow anywhere, you sure hit someone who holds a degree.![]()
Get it now? But I have no money nor working experiences now.Originally posted by ditzy:You shouldn't get it in future, you should get it now!!! Coz in future, we'll be looking at masters and phds. ok then get it later, spend the time now upgrade yourself with other courses, learn new languages, get certificates in skills. Even if you get a degree and think you can get away with just a degree, you're going to stay stagnant, and bosses don't like stagnant people.Originally posted by isolation:Get it now? My plans now is to earn relevant working experiences so that in the future when I wants to take a degree it would be easier for me.Originally posted by ditzy:ok then get it later, spend the time now upgrade yourself with other courses, learn new languages, get certificates in skills. If you ask me, after you start working, you might lose all that drive to strive now.Originally posted by isolation:My plans now is to earn relevant working experiences so that in the future when I wants to take a degree it would be easier for me.![]()
