ive got exactly the same results as you for chinese.
no point trying to retake it.
UNLESS you are already confident of doing well for your other subjects. but since you are not, i suggest you concentrate on your other subjects instead... -
What's your goal? To enter JC or poly?

People always tell me its always easier to get a better grade on your second attempt for chinese. Duno how true though.

Should concentrate on weaker subjects.
There's a bare minimum requirement for subjects like maths and science for combination. Improving your Chinese might only pull your grade up by 1 or at best 2 points... Which might not even be quite useful ultimately...? -
Depend on your level. If your chinese standard is always very good and you don't need to study to prepare for the examination. They why not retake again.

I mean, theres like 120398129031290 words that can come up and I can't possibly to read every fucking chinese articles just to prepare for it -
Unless you want to take a gamble. You'll never lose because they take your better grade.
I got a C6 for my first attempt. I signed up for a 2nd try (when everyone told me not to because I won't do any better). I wasn't going to prove them wrong though, because I never picked up any of the chinese books to revise or anything. I got a B4 finally. So in my case, I went up 2 grades and it still didn't affect my other subjects.
But, if you are the type that goes crazy before every paper... then maybe you shouldn't. Unnecessary stress isn't what you need during the o lvls. -

Retake. No harm trying for the second time, they'll choose the better grade out of the 2.
BUT don't neglect your other subjects. Settle all your weak subjects first before even consider spending time on your chinese. -

Seriously though, you don't get to take the O levels all the time. I re-took because I treated it as a $20 lottery ticket. If can get better result, so much the better for me.
But I'm not sure what the regular mindset is, so you might want to consider a little bit. -
usually the result u get will not much different, but i think u should retake n aim for A1!

I suggest that you focus on your other subjects, especially your weaker ones. I got an A2 for chinese, but my aim was an A1. Didn't bothered to retake since 1) I hate chinese exams 2) not worth the effort... Just move on and try to get a good grade for your maths and science, since you intend to go poly... Getting a good grade for those subjects would be more useful in applying for whatever courses you want (I think)

wat is merit har? distinction?
I got A* Distinction for my oral and A1 for Chinese.
The second Chinese exam is definitely easier to get an A, but I got it at first attempt.
Go for it.
