How can I help a person who's starving himself/herself, apart from taking him/her to a shrink, to eat normally again? I'm finding it very, very difficult to convince the person of the dire consequences.

First, got to make him/her wake up his/her idea. But vanish his/her problems that he/she is facing.

too skinny not nice.. guys like abit 'ba' gals. of coz not asking u to overeat, just eat moderately.. last time i oso very skinny n tot i look good but after i gain afew kgs now, my frenz actually commented that i look better now. be comfortable with urself. if u think u look nice then u r nice, ya... dun care abt wad others say. u can please one but cant please all.... love urself.

i know people who died due to anorexia/various eating disorders... not that im saying the person you mention above is cos i dont know enough...
you cant really help them unless they admit that they have a problem and that they need help...
by forcing them into therapy or hospitalization, what is most likely to happen is that they will 'pretend' to get well so that they can leave the hospital ASAP. then they will go back to their old ways. and if they are hospitalized, they will most likely learn MORE tricks and ways to hide their weight lose too.
i have no idea how to help these people at all. 
just DONT comment on their weight. DONT force them to eat. the more you force them to eat, the more likely they will NOT eat.
if you tell them they look good, they will either think that you are lying, or they will think "see, this person says i look good after losing weight, so i have to lose MORE so i will look better".
if you tell them they dont look good, they will starve themselves because they think that they are too fat and therefore look bad or something...
people who are starving themselves because they think they are fat wont listen to you if you try to tell them of the consequences.
research is the key here. but make sure those websites you go to are reliable... -

KB, given the information available, there's really no specific answer possible.
Keeping in mind that eating disorders can be the result of a variety of problems, you need to work out what else is going on in this person's life before you can work out what the next step is. -
