I think at an initial state, if a girl is pretty but doesn't have a good personality, those initially attracted to her would be sooner or later be turned off.
If a girl is plain/ugly but has a good personality and charm, then people around her would be slowly but surely attracted to her.
If the girl is both pretty and nice, then good for her.
But if the girl is not pretty but nice, then good for her because the guy is attracted to her solely because of her personality.
But of course, I know I would prefer to be pretty...
