From what you have mention above, i believe the circular piece of bone is the kneecap. The symtoms which you have mentioned is probably associated with anterior knee pain syndrome. Anterior knee pain syndrome is an overuse injury of the knee usually caused by prolong running and climbing stairs. The symtoms of anterior knee pain includes pain on the underside or the extreme side of the kneecap or both. It is not a serious problem and physiotherapy may usually solve the problem. However, if it is very serious and it prevents you from doing your daily activities, a surgery may be needed. Hope this will answer your questions.Originally posted by G.I. been running 7,10 12 km every week, sometimes up to 15-16km last year.
suddenly i feel that the circular piece of bone around the knee region seems to become quite loose and a shrap pain can be felt immediately behind this circular piece of bone especially both the extreme sides.
now whenever i run, the pain seem to some back.
What can i do?
There are many factors that causes knee pain. From your message, I can't deduce what is wrong as there are no symtoms mentioned. However, to relieve your pain in your knees, you can try using a hotpack and apply it on your painful knee for 10 mins a few times a day. If there is a swelling, apply coldpack instead of hotpack for 10 mins a few times a day. Note, 10 mins per application is the optimal time. Applying more than 10 mins may be detrimental to your knee.Originally posted by DarkMatter:everytime, if i walk more den 10 minutes or climbing up my hosue stairs. My knees will hurt very much. Always remember that orthopaedic problems including knee problems are sometimes quite difficult to diagnose. If you are not confident with your MO diagnosis, maybe you can see a orthopaedic specialist in any hospital. The specialist will be able to give you a clearer picture of what is happening inside the knee.Originally posted by G.I. Lim:well whenever i see the MO, he just seem to turn my knee here n there, touch the kneecap region and say " I think you've probably injured a ligament. You just need to rest your knee."
This way the pain comes and go...
Physiotherapy is a very long process and might not even be effective... sian 1/2
dun think its serious enough to warrant a surgery yet.
There are various reasons for that. One probable reason maybe that you have injuried your posterior cruciate ligament previously or there may be some meniscus damage to the knee. However, i would advise you to see a specialist doctor to get a clearer picture of your knee. A Magnetic resonance Imaging scan may be able to tell the problem.Originally posted by Aveme:hmm, everytime i squat down and remains in that position for 1 minute+ or longer,my knee joint will become very very painful.Apart from that,i feel nothing standing or sitting, just when i am squating.Any possible reason for that?
