  If you want a real r/s, the meet up is essential. After all, ask yourself what you want out from the r/s? You can't be with someone forever without meeting him or her in real life right?
  
  Unless you satisfied with a fantasy r/s, then definitely must meet up so that you can see whether the person is really what you think he/she really is
