Accompany him/her/it. Tell him/her/it that life is not just about exams or tests. Its much much more than that and have fun with him/her/it. If it's really the O Levels prelim you may want to consider consoling him or her by telling:
"Cheer up pal, it's only school prelim. I heard the seniors say that prelims are often much more difficult that the actual, you will do much more better in the actual. Maybe we can complete and revise the ten years series together?"
"There's a particular tutor wahh.. after tutoring for only 2 months.. even F9 grade become A1" (make sure there's this tutor :lol
By the way if he or she's using prelim results to join JC classes in Jan.. the first idea dont look too optimistic. -

i had a fren who made a few of this fake id card whereby the lets say econs is on it...then they will put ECONS - A*...then pass it around
sort of like a toy...but it encourages them that they can have a A* in their A levels subjects..it also gives them something to look forward and work to...its a pretty good idea i think..
kinda childish..but well...you do need a miricle right? -

depends on the person one lah.
some pple no need conslole will bounce back.
some pple you need to point them to the future, some pple you need to do nice things and spend time/money.
and hor if its the prelims just tell him/her that the prelims is useless. its the O/As that are important
