Official adult age should be at 18 instead of 21

Children (ie 18 to 21) act, work, play, behave, talk and think like young adults today. By 18 yrs, they are studying and practising concepts and subjects that adults usually are familiar with. Furthermore, 18 years old "children" or "boys" are drafted into National Service and perform adult tasks (like shooting a weapon and taking chargeable responsibilities). and oh yes..they are sexually mature, capable of giving birth...eG StandardChart Easisave bank account cannot accept depositers under 21. All those under 21 must go for "Children" account. I wanted to sigh up buy it's sounds wierd for a 19 years old guy to sigh up "Children" account...
Anyway it's pretty pointless to call 18,19 or 20 years old as "children"? -

18 is call "young adult". final test run before becoming full adult.
and there are adults dat behave no better den kids. -

I think it serves some practical purpose.
For instance, 18 is just finishing High School.
21 is finishing University, or for countries with compulsory military draft, finishing military service.
So I believe that's why.....serves some practical purpose to set the cutoff around that age. Some countries choose 18, or 21. Could be lower also.
But there is really no need to lower it to 18 or not....is there? -

Actually quite true man...this topic has been around for ages aldy...caz it complusory for guys to go ns at 18...so our army consists of teenagers and therefore a teen army?!

If it were left to me, the official age of adulthood would be moved to 16. 14 can drink and smoke already. The age for legal sexual consent will be moved to 10

18 is the legal age of adulthood here (USA) for everything except drinking....that's 21.....the individual states used to set the minum drinking age as they saw fit until The National Minumum Drinking Age Act of 1984.

it is really odd in Singapore.
you cannot vote until 21 but you can hold and shoot a rifle at 18 ? You are drafted for NS at 18, they treat you like a man at 18 but alas, you are barred from watching R(A) movies and worse you are barred from Velvet & some discos !!!
Whats the edge ? You are deemed matured to kill and defend the nation yet you are deemed inmature to go disco ...

it make no sense when 18 year old police nsmen are given the trust to bear live arms and other controlled items in public yet not legally deem mature enough to participate in election or to watch certain films.
