AGONIZING WinXP BIG PROBLEM

hey guys! big problem here, dunno if it shld be like posted in this forum especially, but it's pretty agonising.

I just switched on my computer.
And ALL MY FILES ARE GONE! WIPED CLEAN! and what's more! It's just one user. The rest of the users are fine!! Something's very wrong.

I tried rebooting 3 times. Once there was an error msg saying can't open user "something" now.

But there's a very queer character to this problem. My @ on my keyboard, turns out to be " and viceversa. This has been noted in one of the other users before, but it's pretty unused, so we didn't really care.

Can someone please help. Or point me to some help. I really really have so many impt things hereeeee. LIKE A MILLION PHOTOGRAPHS among other documentss!!! AHHHH

Actually, official Windows support says this is a recognised problem of the system. Not a virus thing.

I found my files. Strangely if I open My Documents there is nothing, but if I go C: > Documents and Settings that way everything's there. I'm backing up now, but I still dunno how to get the user back!! :'(

try this:
1.create a new user account
2. log on to another account other than your old one and the newly created one( u can create a new one just for this purpose)
3. go to my computer(right click) ->properties->advanced->user profiles->settings
4.try to copy the old profile to the newly created one

your old profile is probably corrupted...you can't do much...except to copy the old profile to the new one...
