Advice needed

  Hi all,
  
  I'm due to be enlisted for bmt at tekong in december.. however i really want to serve my ns in civil defence. Is there a way for me to do that, i mean change my ns from army to civil defence?
  
  i know this sounds like a dumb qn.. but e reason i want to serve my ns in civil defence is being in cd ns will help me in my planned career of choice in e future which is working in e security industry.
  
  i onli haf a ite higher nitec cert n haf oreadi plan to work from the bottom which is being a security guard first n work my way slowly to e top. Therefore being in cd ns will enable me to be exempted from taking e nsrs cert required by all security guards.
  
  aniwae i haf oreadi plan to take up a professional diploma course in security management from a local private institute after my ns so u see i realli am serious bout it
  
  Btw i hope to receive feedbacks or advice regarding my career choice or alternative careers which i am contemplating which is being a firefighter or a prison officer.. any replys will be greatly appreciated.. thank you all in advance.

  A career in the army can be very rewarding, the lump sum cash and the side benefits.

  u cant choose, if u wan go to sign on... civil defence dun reali deal with security, u wan sign on police...

  seems tricky to me...
  but to me, i will not advise you to even sign on..True enuff, you get higher pay than outside, which will make you happy for 3-6 years, depending on your contract..
  
  HOWEVER, be reminded that with your current educational level, they WILL NOT renew your contract, unless you are super duper outstanding..
  and when i say super, you must really be SUPER..
  
  after you leave the force, what can you do? i dont know, unless you have plans to use the money u saved, to open a shop or something...
  
  Another alternative, is to sign on, and do a part time study, which most pp will advise you to do so, regardless of what job you do...

  Hi all.. thanks for all yr insightful inputs.. had a talk with my dad.. he gave some negative inputs about my so called "security career path" instead he advised me to sign on as a firefighter.. he said tat it is a stable career as i onli haf onli higher nitec..
  
  after putting in a lot of thought.. i realise tat being a firefighter is not so bad after all.. it's a job which helps people.. a career where u will learn life saving skills.. etc.. also i heard la.. tat being in scdf will give me more time to pursue my own part time diploma n tat is a big priority for me..
  
  i also did some reading up at the scdf website n it states tat chances of promotion is quite high as there is a lack of upper appointments in e specialist track.. therefore i'm inclined to believe tat i can get sergeant much faster compared to if i am in police or prisons..
  
  So now i hope those who haf knowledge about firefighters career or any inputs being it positive or negative.. pls tell me so i can 100% make up my mind about tis matter.. thanks..

  Hey there, nows a day it is not what you like to do,
  
  It is more of how can the job support you.
  Regular pay, benefits and flexibiliy and fire fighter seem to be a good job

  Hi all, my comp's been down for a while now.. thus now been able to update..
  
  aniwae i've oreadi called up e scdf recruitment hotline and sadly they cannot accept me as i am pes bp.. but the recruitment officer did tell me tat if i can get at least a silver for my napfa and get my pes status to b.. then they might accept me.
  
  For yr info.. although i am pes bp and my bmi is 30.. i haf no problem getting at least a silver for my napfa.. for example i can do a max of 12 pullups n getting below 12 min for my 2.4km..
  
  therefore i've oreadi booked my napfa tis 15 nov and hopefully get at least a silver..
  
  Aniwae e thing tat is worrying me now is my enlisment is a mth away.. shld i get at least a silver for my napfa.. can i upgrade my status to B? considering tat my bmi is 30..
  
  i've also got another qn.. let's say i go into army bmt.. n when i POP, can i sign on as a firefighter in e scdf?
  
  Just so u all know.. i'm quite anxious about tis matter as i realli want to haf a career and start to earn asap as to help out my family financially as well as to kickstart my savings for my future education.. and.. also as regard to my previous post.. i'm realli interested in becoming a firefighter.
