I'm not saying that we should suka suka find a gf just because we are lonely but do you think that something must be done to counter this problem like expanding social circle etc? -
of course... u jz cant keep dreaming u are prince charming n gals will fall to ur feet... must take initiative to know more ppl n improve urself...

Of course if your circle of friends is small, the chances of finding a suitable girlfriend is limited. Enlarging social circle doesn't guarantee you a girlfriend, but of course, you would increase your probability and a better chance of finding someone suitable.

There is a very contradicting saying....
people who are single, dont believe in fate...
BUT people who are attached, normally advise singles to wait patiently for fate to appear (even though they were also singles before and nv believe in it)

In the past when I didn't had a gf, I just hang around with friends or hang out by myself... Seriously, I kinda enjoyed my own company...

Yeap I know the good things of being single (As I have been 'enjoy' it all way long
) like more freedom etc but when you see couples on shopping malls or anywhere somehow you might have a 'sour' feeling. 
And yes, my social circle cannot be considered big as my close friends are not that many and all of them are male. Although I did have some female friends, they belongs to those whom I very seldom contact type one.
Also, we all needs to settle down one day so we can't continue to be single right? -

sometime u hang out with ur friend but ur friend's attention is mostly on their galfriend only...

Well, the grass is always greener on the other side.
It's a choice between freedom vs companionship. I see friends who are single last time complaining that they feel so 'on the shelf' seeing other couples. Now the same friends are complaining that they somehow lose control of their freedom when they are attached.
You gain some you lose some. It's up to the individual to determine which is better for him/her -
Think about the pros and cons maybe you are better off single.At least like that can flirt with more girl right
