It can be quite challenging mixing with people 3 years younger than you...and you will feel depress that your old buddies have all graduated with their diplomas and you have yet to receive yours. -

Just get the damned cert and graduate. If you think school life's tough, wait till you work. Having work experience during your school days is nothing. Your real test is when you have to start earning enough to maintain your own life and your future family.
If it's ambition you lack, please seek motivation from friends who are constantly striving to improve themselves. There are people out there who can't afford to study for a diploma, and here you are whining away.

yes I am. I will go to a part time diploma or apply a part time degree if I get my diploma. However it is not going to be engineering courses. It's true that without a cert. you are nothing, but that is if you are looking for a JOB!
If you start an enterprise of your own, definitely a cert is just another worthless piece of paper...
The cert will only teach you a book smart way of doing things, which is quite worthless in this very practical society...
I believe more in the street smarts...
Street smarts are the ones that make up the majority of successful people...
You don't need a cert to prove your worth...
And in Singapore, why do people always think of finding a job and wanting to survive in this 'harsh' environment. An environment that is a rat race... One day there will not be enough jobs for people due to lack of employers...
Typical singaporeans
cert. = job = retire (CPF) = struggle = find job that pay low
Why can't all you people that is so obsess with cert. just think out of the box and live life as a successful person?... Learn something new. Try something different. Convince yourself that you have no limits. -

True, times are getting harder... I agree with you with that staement... But your friends with NITEC cert. cannot just stay there. $2000++ is quite alot for an unmarried person and at the same time does not support the family yet... Once he/she have support a family, $2000 is not enough... And $2000 now and in the future is different... Now seems to be quite alot, but in the future. $2000 is considered little, this is due to the development of S'pore and higher standad of living...
Must have a life long leaning attitude... Learn something new. Try something different. Convince yourself that you have no limits. -

1) he is the only 1 person if not 1 of the few people that you know
2) and how long have he started working already? years than increase in salary to $2k per month?
3) or if he is a newly graduate, he's results should be either 3.8 or above and have won in competitions than will he be able to command a high salary. so many people can emerge champions in a competition? -

i know a few local entreprenuer that only have secondary school education.-> for example, the guy behind the bread talk concept.I aso know a few local entreprenuer who complete university education and are aso successful.
Certs are like passes for being an employee, easier to get jobs.
But then lately the world and the economy is different from what it is used to be,
the-so-called-unbreakable rice bowls aso can be broken. So what if u got a cert ar? if ur work ethics sucks, ur PR sucks then u aso can kenna retrench anytime when the economy suffers from a downturn.
An entreprenuer does not necessarily need a cert, he also must know when to sieze opportunity, dare to be different from others, have foresight, determine and not afraid to fail. Not everyone have these qualities.
but to the thread-starter.. almost one more month to go and u will graduate.. lugi if u quit nw.. don't be a fool.
