For starters, I'd think it'll help if you start thinking of Christianity as a set of philosophies and values that strive to help you have a better life instead of as a religion. In fact, you can apply this to all other religions.
You don't have to go to a church to worship God. You can worship Him anywhere because He is all seeing. Besides, even if you were to go to a church without the intention of worshipping Him, what makes you think that He wouldn't know?

Anyway, if you are uncomfortable with it, just say so, if they are your true friends, they'll leave you alone and continue the relationship as per normal.

Guys, I think we ought to cool it. We are kind of going offtrack & overboard, slandering the religion & all that. TS just needs some advice on how to deal with his friend. So if I were you, I would just tell your friend that I'm not ready to commit myself to the religion, which is how you really feel. You don't have to lie to her or come up with excuses just to get away from attending church, which some of my other friends do. If your friend were to really sever all ties with you because of your reason, then this is a friend I will not regret losing. I once told my friend the exact same thing the last time & though he sounded disappointed, he stopped asking me to go to CHC so frequently ever since then unless on some special occasion like X'mas eve.

each Christian got their believe like the denominations.. so there is 10 ways to worship God.. cant agree CHC is bad or what so ever but i believe each charmastic christian have their own first hand revelation from God or dreams from God.. it isn't about how but its about what.. some Christian choose to backslide why? as they either rubbish their dreams or dont have any revelation from God.. some Christian believe Jesus suffered for us and there is no need for us to suffer.. Jesus did it willingly.. its not considered a suffering God send his Son Jesus to wash and cleanse our sins.. its our willingness to do things not thinking its a suffering..
