nothing wrong with not wanting to be in the corperate world... there are those tat are sick of it and they go be something else rather than continue the daily warfare.... ur husband should be happy tat he got a committed housewife... u should follow ur heart go do something u really enjoy.... money is around, just how u wan to earn it so fulfill wat u desire to do....Originally posted by tick tickle ticklish:i am currently majoring in business but my heart is not in business... i feel that the corporate world is a cold, scheming and ambitious place where i don't belong. one day during class my lecturer asked us what we wanted to be... everyone said they wanted to be corporate high-flyers and management associates... when i told them i wanted to be a housewife everyone laughed.
issue no 1: is it wrong to feel that way of the corporate world and my peers? I tend to have very negative feelings towards my coursemates. As a result, i find it very hard to trust them and it sort of makes me unhappy too. But my peers have admitted that they wouldn't mind backstabbing just to climb the next rung of the corporate ladder. Also, many of them are just losers who say they have no motivation to study when it is evident that they are plain muggers. To me, closet muggers cannot be trusted.
issue no 2: I am considering a switch to architecture because i like looking at houses and studying their designs. But this will involve alot of implications. For one, my parents will not be too happy about it. Also, I cannot be definitely sure that I will love architecture. And for those who studied architecture, what are its prospects? what is the interview like?
In case some of you are wondering why i chose business in the first place, all i could say is that it was a rather last minute decision... because there was nothing much that captured my interest at that time. I did think of architecture but i was worried about the limited prospects as land in singapore is scarce... also i was playing the market at that time and i wanted to know what made the market ticked. well my course did help me understand what i wanted to know... which is why i don't regret taking business at all. But... i just hate working in the corporate world and doing those jobs that business majors do.
Issue no 3: i lack the motivation to study for the course, simply because there are certain aspects of it that doesn't really interest me. all this while i was just interested in making money by giving tuition.. at the peak i had 20 sessions per week... and this ate into alot of my time and affected my grades. the problem is, Im not interested in studying for the sake of exams so i will just put in minimal effort that is required of me to understand investment books and stuff. logically speaking, i should concentrate on my books so as to get a well-paying job in the future... but i'm not interested in the corporate world. after all, you can slog for them but after 40, all your merits are forgotten and retrenchment hits you.
Should i give up earning money just for the sake of studies? i love the feeling of earning my own keep, the more money the merrier.
I feel the same way like you thats why I chose science over business.Study in what you love and you will prosper.Originally posted by tick tickle ticklish:i am currently majoring in business but my heart is not in business... i feel that the corporate world is a cold, scheming and ambitious place where i don't belong. one day during class my lecturer asked us what we wanted to be... everyone said they wanted to be corporate high-flyers and management associates... when i told them i wanted to be a housewife everyone laughed.
