i kana retain at sec3. 2dae skl reopen i found the new cls bt dare not go in until everyone gone for flagraisin. waa, bt lucky gt 1 clsmate olso retain with me. dunno y i dun lyk the cls, bt prefer my old clsmates.recess & after skl i still join mi old clsmates. dunno wat to do sia? i dun feel lyk mixin with them, cuz damn no face liao.

Your problem is not really about whether you feel like mixing with your new classmates or not. In my opinion, there is really no big deal that you retain as long as you know what you are doing. When it comes to pride, ultimately, you will realize that your opinion of yourself is what matters the most and the opinions of others is insignificant since they will all forget about you anyway.
I guess, maybe, your problem is that you still do not know what you want to achieve in school.
Everyday when I go to my campus for lessons, I will always come across this quote which I remember quite well."Everything's in the mind. That's where it all starts. Knowing what you want is the first step towards getting it. (MacWest)
So what I suggest is that everyday, when you are at school, ask yourself few questions.
1. Why am I here?
2. What do I want to achieve here?
3. If I cannot get what I want here, where should I be?

time to wake up liao loh. since you sibei pai seh, means you need to work hard so that you don't retain. do well for O's, go whereever you want. anyway, you can't siam them forever, so might as well get to know them earlier, when everyone is still mixing around. don't be the outcast. pai seh neh mind, cause you still have to face them sooner or later. better to be sooner when everyone friend friend mood.

i remember there were 3 retainees in my sec 4 class.
one of them retained 2 years lor.
but they mixed very well with my classmates, became good buddies and finally passed and made it to poly. -
Its just the mindset obstacle you are having.
I last year also from sec2 exp drop to sec3 na.
First day of school i felt exactly the way you felt.
But now i am comfortable with the class.
You got to socialise with them at times to know more. -

yeah. retaining is jus to give you more time to study so u can get better grades for Os or As. ultimately, its the grades of ur cert that matters. so if u jus pass ur exams, den how bout ur O levels??
yea, indeed you'd be studying with ppl who are one year your junior. but why not get into honor roll(top few percent of cohort) or even top the class? after all, you have more learning experiences than them. im sure you can do it!
and hor, don nid to feel paiseh wif ur friends la. if they are your friends, they wont laugh at you. but maybe, at ur level, ur friends may be a little immature....
im a retainee as well...in my own JC but i still hang out with my exclassmates. they oso never laugh or mock me. in fact, they missed me! im sure, given some time, ur frenz would miss u too -nods- -

What do teachers tell u after failing a test?
Learn from your mistakes.and dont make it again,if u dont like math.Seek another teacher to teach u math.People hate or dislike math because they need a different style of approach.Same applies to all different subjects.Dont worry,cos you will eventually mix well with your new classmates. -

Get to know you new classmates slowly and you won't feel so wierd as the days and months go by, you're going to be studying with them for another 1 or 2 years. I hope you won't follow your retain mate example and skip school. Each lesson for your sec 3 subjects(eg Maths/Science) is important for your sec 4 years. Make use of this year to catch up on your studies,got any problems don't be scared to consult your teachers.
Even if you change school you will still feel alone and wierd. You won't know anyone there,the teachers and pupils will all be a new face to you. -

I think you need to overcome this yourself.
Ask yourself why you retain. If you played too much, cut down or stop. If you cant understand your work, you got another year to work on it.
I would also suggest that you use your spare time to read up on your sec4 work. Considering that its your second time doing sec3, you should have more spare time to do so. It helps when you go to sec4.
If you work hard, no one should look down on you. They should only be ashame of not working as hard as you.
I had a friend who retained in JC, scored all As in the end and now in Medical School. My friends who scraped pass J1 and got promoted to J2, passed A's with shit results or flunked it. Now they are left with little options and they wished that they had been retained.
Its possible to fly high.

Well it is ur own psychological barrier u hav to overcome , friends come n go . I used to be so close with my formal jc1 class n yet nw almost all hav left me after graduation . It took me sometime to realise this cruel fact .
What u can do ,
cheer up n look forward to the new class , meet new ppl n prehaps new love?
Nt tat i don understand hw hard this could be but it all matters with urself .Personally when i jus got retained , i oso feel the same or prehaps worst . Moreover , i had a temporary teacher who downright hinted me that retainees r dumb . I took it in my stride becos i know it is my own fault .
Sad to say after retaining , i still kinda screwed up my alvls last yr . Tat is y my advice to u is to make full use of ur extra 1 yr to brush up urself , think the mature way(nt like me) n hopefully ur path in life can be brighter than b4 . -

i also reatain. but my class alot of retainees. so we hang out together. u could hang out with ur ex class also, nothing to be pai seh about.

its difficult but you are soon to realise you have no one to blame other than yourself . i got same experience as you , i buang my studies then i ask my mum to come down to talk to pricipal see can promote anot . tell you what my mum pleaded for me and promise to principal that i will study hard . then my principal tell my mum abt my everything in school and believe or not my mum actually teared in front of the principal , that kind of feeling , i tell you nobody can describe de , then i felt remorse and when i repeated sec 3 my grades went from 43 for L1R5 to 24 for L1R5 i told myself to work hard and swear never to let my mum down . now i doing sec 4 o's this year . i also like you at first like for 2 months i sat during recess and go out after school with my exclassmates but then got 1 f**ker among them keep saying i retain laugh at me stupid and all kinds of stuff you can think of , then i stayed away from them and make new friends when i see them in school the most i said was hi nth else . this is the kind of treatment you will get when you dont do well and i swear to myself i going to show them what im capable of .

Last thing you should do is to look down on yourself... Have you given up hope on yourself already...? Are you totally hopeless..? Condemned...? If not, why look down on yourself...? Surely people would bear different opinions of you, but should you condemn yourself?
Give yourself a chance.. Give others a chance.. Give everybody some time...
