Solely in view of the thingy we have discussed above, if that was true to you as well, I suppose one wouldn't feel 'disgusted' with the notion of expressive affection, since what you feel inside will be shown outside as quoted by you. Or would it rather be the woman, who couldn't make you fall hard enough in love? In which she couldn't make you feel enough inside to exude what's on the outside?
I come across people who are downright miser in affection. Not yet received much complains from those who have been generously giving untainted love, warmth and affection.
Or is it because it's an 'Asian' thing? That we are so uncomfortable with being appreciative and expressive?
This is something interesting to think about.

It happened to me b4. My R/s is 4 years during my NS. She same thing ask for a breakup.
and now i married with 2 kids
Then i suddenly she her working at IKEA last week 9more than 6 years alre i think)( dun think she saw me) then i faster carry my kids and move out of her sight

Its just an expression and I know some of you may not get used to it. Frankly speaking, initially I don't get used to it too. But after I know how precious the life of my loved ones are and how should I cherish them, any mushy stuffs that I think is mushy... I still do it. My way of showing my love for them. -

It just come naturally I believe. Be it a casual or serious remark, I do say it daily.
Dun think it mushy? It just one of my ways to show her that I do cherish her and love her.

we never know when is our last day on earth,... and I want to know that at least I have shown my love and appreciation to those whom i love and loves me before I go.
