why do you want to harden your heart in the first place?Originally posted by blu_sky:then what is the above?
and what is love?
The hardening of heart is becos it is done for a good reason, for the overall well-being for everyone, in the long run.Originally posted by rainee:why do you want to harden your heart in the first place?
and like what i said last time, love is something that is hard to be described, it is something that shouldn't be questioned so much

Is this love?
Isnt love about treasuring somebody, making him/her happy, caring for that person's feelings and well-being?
hardening your heart and just do what you think is right, disregarding that person's feelings.
Is that love?
Like the long term happiness of both parties?Originally posted by Yunhaier:That's pretty relative.
How good exactly is good? Maybe u would like to expand on that?
Cheers

ah... not referring to such extreme cases lahOriginally posted by smudgey:Depends on situation.
let's say that the person you love is addicted to drugs...
Should you harden your heart and force him to give it up? should you stand your ground even if he say he can't...
in this case i think the answer is yes. This is love
but in other context....
Debatable....Originally posted by blu_sky:loving somebody, and deciding what is good for him/her, hardening your heart and turning a blind eye to that person's feelings, and just do what you think is good, despite how much it saddens the person, despite how much that person cant take it.

Debatable... But I would think majority of the time, often not... The step taken which yuo've described can be quite a very big risk to take...Originally posted by blu_sky:Like the long term happiness of both parties?
Does loving someone means you have to be there for the person all the time? i dun mean seeing each other 24/7. rather, i mean providing emotional support for the person, rather than hardening of heart and turning a blind eye to the person's inability/difficulty in taking the situation? letting the party go thru emotional turmoil alone?
Elaborate?Originally posted by Devil1976:Debatable... But I would think majority of the time, often not... The step taken which yuo've described can be quite a very big risk to take...

Some partners like to play mind games and play victim.. If you try to go ALL THE WAY to help this sort of person or partner, you could be VERY EASILY drained to the MAX where not only would the relationship break down.. But also you would... There're also partners who might not be consciously doing such things... Some of them are just so depressed or sort that it'll not be practical for you to 'go all the way' unless you're really adequate enough to help or unless you're a professional..Originally posted by blu_sky:Elaborate?
