Whats the difference in what we called " Private " diploma and " Recognised " diploma ? everybody's telling me not to go for Private ones, as they are not recognised. So what does not recognised really mean ?

In Singapore, employers still prefer employee to have a local education cerf than those private school. But come to think again, if you have private dip, company will still employ you based on your experience. They said that if you have O lvls cert and a private diploma, ur pay will be based on ur O lvl cert and not Diploma as its considered experienced in the field and not certified. How true ?

If you intend to work in the public sector, which means, under government, or almost indirectly under government, its preferable you get something recognised. Its a well known fact the HRs of govt agencies, bak jiu all got stamp one.

It is only very important if you are looking to work for Government based Organisation like Stat boards or as a civil servant in one of the ministries. If you are planning to build a career in the private sector then having a private Diploma isnt that much of an issue but vary depending on each organisation as well and their demands.
If i am not mistaken, Ministry of Manpower keeps a list of recognised bodies of educational providers both local and overseas, so does Ministry of Education as well as does local universities. The purpose of such a list is to help facilitate both government linked employers or local educational providers determine if the candidnate is likely to meet the paper requirement for the job opening or for further education options.
Private sectors value experience and ability to succeed/sell/slog (The 3S) more than anything else depending on your field of employment, hence paper value may be considered secondary, however this also doesnt stop larger companies using headhunters to employ the most qualified person for certain positions as well.
