As of now, I don't think he will open up if you ask him about it. What he needs is time to think about his situation. In the meantime you can lend him some books or shows to watch, preferably those with good laughter and invoke HUGE amount of hope in the story (if he can sees hope in it...). Know what are his interests? What he likes? Video games? Sci fi? Superstar? Sports?Originally posted by papercut87:my very good friend is currently under depression for some time already. im not sure abt why... he used to be very cheerful and talkative.. i've tried to talk to him about it but he shuts himself off from everyone. asked him wat problems, he said its personal problems regarding his future and job prospects available and doesnt wanna share more.. sigh, really want to help. but how to make him feel better? dats y i feel quite helpless as a friend... his bday is coming up... any suggestions of what i can do to make it one that he can really enjoy?

Shutting himself off from anyone is one sign of depression, even though its still vague and not a 100% case of it. We may have to see more to determine if its really depression.Originally posted by Pitot:sometimes u just cant do anything. hopefully they will wake up from the bad spell. how u know if its depression?![]()

Sometimes its just a phase of changing.Originally posted by Bontakun:Shutting himself off from anyone is one sign of depression, even though its still vague and not a 100% case of it. We may have to see more to determine if its really depression.
We can only hope this is the case regarding paper's friend. Its more of different mindset and perception than depression.Originally posted by Pitot:Sometimes its just a phase of changing.
I have a friend who thinks that he there are no such things as real friendship in the world and no matter how we try to argue, he still think that people are just using each other in one time or another. Nothing such as a friendship.
U gotta look at it from a diff way and just treat him like no other person. if u treat him specially instead of him thinking that u are trying to help him, he will start to wonder why are u becoming so good to him, perhaps trying to take advantage of him?
Sometimes it aint depression. Just someone reading too much and i mean way too much into things. Or it maybe that he just got onto the dirt with his friends perhaps got backstabbed or some other bad stuff.
It aint depression because he is doing fine in OCS now.
Its just that some people read stuff differently.
