Hi, i am not going into any bullshit about personality or stuff like that even though it's the most important thing. Will a girl love a guy who has good skin but lousy personality?girls can answer this....i guess no, who likes a pretty bastard?
But now your problem lies on your skin condition. Can you tell me it's because of pimples or pimple scars?
Know your own medical condition first, before taking steps to treat
Anyway, there are 2 conditions for acne,
i)Acne Vulgaris - an inflammatory disorder of the pilosebaceous follicles (cause by propionobacteria, a bacteria that stays on your skin as normal skin commensal)
- affects teenagers(common), rarely early or mid adult life
- comedones[white(some say yellow colour) and black head] formation is the central abnormality of this disease.
-mainly on the face
- divided into mild, moderate and severe
ii)Acne rosacea - chronic repalsing/remmiting facial disorder of unknown cause(might be due to instability of vasomotor or skin mites, yeah, mites!!demodex) typically affects fair skin people.
- look out for chronic flushing triggered by alcohol, hot beverages, sunlight, changes in ambient temperature and spicy food preceding characteristic fix erythema (on nose, chin, cheeks, forhead), talengiectasia, papules and pustules.
-look out for blepharitis (scaling and irritation at the base of the eyelashes), conjunctivitis
- in middle age and commoner in women
-in men, sabaceous gland hypertrophy of the nose can results in a disfiguring enlarged nose, rhinophyma
ok, confusing? right, i hope yours is acne vulgaris because this will make things simple...did i say it affects young people? ok, straight away to treatment..which is more practical right?
i) don't scratch your face because rupture of comedones will cause inflamations, draining of pus, the yellowish liquid, will cause scaring
ii) deep facial washing will not cure the disease, although it cleeans dirt out
iii) pat dry your face after washing, don't rub
iv) drink more water
now the important one:
we can use the medication singly or combination..i think combined will be better, topical antibiotic + topical benzoyl peroxide, that's what i recommend
i) we use antibiotic for treatment. Did i say first line treament also? Usually we use the roll on type one which you can get in pharmacy, tell the pharmacist you need the roll on clindamycin, tetracyclin or erytromycin. The brand name for the clindamycin is dalacin.
ii) then try to find the anti acne facial product which contains benzoyl peroxide. start on with the benzoyl peroxide 2.5 %, if higher you might get irritation. increase the strength, 5 %, 10% if the lower one can't work. I think oxy can do the job....you know oxy? oxy 5? ring the bell? or just ask the pharmacist, they should know
ii)can use azelaic acid, max 10mg/day, not more than 6 months
iv)topical retinoids or retinoid-like agents, adapalene
The above works for mild acne only. if things can't work, then it should be either moderate or severe acne. You have to find a doctor then.
Consult a doctor first...you can't actually open a prescription for oral antibiotics, can you?
Treatment for moderate acne involve using antibiotic, orally erythromycin with topical (means on the skin) benzoyl peroxide. Make sure the dose for oral antibiotic = the dose of the topical antibiotic. Usually doctor will combine oral antibiotic with the topical one (benzamycin gel = benzoyl peroxide plus topical erythromycin)
Treatment for severe acne involves using synthetic retinoidisotretinoin (0.5 - 1 mg/kg/day for 16 weeks. Cannot try when you know that you or any of your family member has history of thrombo-embolism....erm...blocked blood vessels and dislodging of blocked materials that travels to another part of your organ, say brain.
Hope this can help you to understand more of your condition.
did i tell you about how to differentiate between mild, moderate and severe acne?
mild - comedones (white and black head) on the face
moderate - face, neck, shoulder, back
severe - you can practically see big nodules and cyst, basically big pimples with pus
Remember, try to consult your doctor if 1st line therapy (topical antibiotic and benzoyl peroxide) can't work.
Thank you
Good luck
