i too have this feeling before....time not on my side and I have to accept my role in my new job ASAP...I tot of resigning before but somehow I was using the wait and see method. Lucky I was able to handle after sometime...Usually it takes 3~6mths to get used to the job. If u are hardworking enuff, I am sure u will overcome it somehow. However dun take it too hard even if u can't success, cos at least u put ur best...no regrets. Hope this helpsOriginally posted by Chrysalis_Guy:Dear forummers..just took up a new job two weeks ago..nice environment..nice pay..but..ironically..for the first time in my 33 years of life..i am so stressed up..
The thing is..I am taking up a Senior Executive role..and the job scope is wide ranging..there are many things that I have to learn..and worse still..there aren't any people to show me the ropes/procedures..the previous senior exec resigned suddenly..
All of a sudden..i have been tasked to pick up the loose stones..and despite me having late nights to absorb (i am even burning my weekends) to learn the ropes..i still find it hard to comprehend the whole procedures..
I know i shouldnt rush..but the thing is that i dont have the time to learn it slowly..cos my tasks are very time intensive and supposedly gotta mit deadlines..
My direct superior kept saying that i should be able to handle..i should be able to handle..should be able to handle..until i really wanna blow up..
My clients also pressurised me..cos they kp on saying that the resigned fellow is excellent..and that i am finding it hard to fill his shoes...
Its like a time bomb..when i dun learn fast enough..and if they complain to management..thats the end..i dun care losing the job..but my pride is at stake..i always work hard..and even my previous employers had given me commendation letters..but in this case..it seems that no matter how hard i try..time is not on my side..i do not want to end up sacked..

Shudn't let the job define u
Overwhelming amount of things to do. after you have learned the ropes and more familiarise with your work, you may be more efficient and thus able to accomplish those work. If still cannot, you may discuss with your boss. Sure, your boss may compare you to the guy who resigned. Let it be then. It is better that you voice out and get things corrected and donely properly than to try yet screw things up. FOr all we know, that guy might have resigned due to the voluminous workload?Originally posted by Chrysalis_Guy:Thanks for all replying..but this morning just read through all the procedures..it seems there are overwhelming things to do..and more than half it seems that i do not understand...i really dont know what to do already..
No matter they might be 'big' or 'small'..... Are they people who might be able to show you the ropes which you've not realised yet...?Originally posted by Chrysalis_Guy:Thanks for all replying..but this morning just read through all the procedures..it seems there are overwhelming things to do..and more than half it seems that i do not understand...i really dont know what to do already..
