let's try not to apply generalization here.

if you are watching a boxing match, with two boxers each weighing 200 and 100 pounds in the ring respectively, who do you think is the weaker one?
likewise, giving most guys the benefit of doubts, it is easier to classify a female counterpart emotionally "weaker" if she looks and behaves wimpy.
i think the problem here is
communication. yes, you are right to say that a tall and independant woman requires a shoulder to cry on too, but who would know that besides you?
in the first place, if you protrait yourself as a strong woman, how would others know that you are as "needed" as those "wimpy" type of women? which reminds me of a statement:
Women wearing Wonder bras and low-cut blouses lose their right to complain about having their boobs stared at. in today's reality, there is always a fine thin line between caring and giving space to a woman. if guy is too caring, he is not giving enough space and respect. and if a guy is giving too much space, he is not caring.
who knows, you might already have tons of secret admirer but they dare not approach you because you are behaving too independantly.
it is high time you communicate with your guy friends and let them know who you really are.
