I don't really think it is Singapore's law. Its more of human law and thinking to assume the accused is guilty until proven innocence.
Its rather common for the general public to cast a condemning mind and attitude towards the accused even before he/she/it is found guilty. When he/she/it is guilty, then will those people be justified in their actions and thoughts towards the accused. HOWEVER IF the accused is innocent of the case, then the whole scenario will somehow be erased cleanly, albeit slowly. Though it WILL not so in the minds and hearts of those who have initially condemned the accused.
