I got a big dilemma here. I am a 24 years old male, just out from my national service. I am applying into SIM coming intake in July but have not decide on the course yet. I still got 2 weeks more to decide and that is not much time left. Hopefully you can give me some advice on this issue.
I am very much interested in the working world related to the two IR which will be coming up in 2009. The problem is I got an ankle problem which suffered during my national service which means I cannot work in a condition that requires to stand for long hours. That is why I did not consider a degree on Tourism and Hospitality as I heard jobs related to that requires much movements.
I am thinking of economies and finance degree which is a very board degree. After i get this degree, I hope to branch to working in the Resorts that requires not much standing or walking example an office job.
The crux of this problem is I am not sure whether a degree in economies and finance will be able to help me to get a job in the IR comparing to a degree in Tourism and Hospitality. As they say, a degree in the latter would be much useful than the former if you want to find a job relating to the IR.
If not, please give me some advices on degree say Economies and Management? That able to help me given in the situation of my ankle problem.
If there are any advices you would like to give too, I am gladly to receive it. Thanks.

A very general answer which I would give to everyone who is undecided on their study path.....
'Just do whatever that interests you. If you're interested enough, employment would not be a problem in the future.'

I'm not sure about which course would be helpful for your job entry to the IR
The thing is.. How confident are u that this IR thing will take off well?
Somehow, this IR proposal doesn't strike to me as something that will hit off in a country with strict regulations as Singapore.
Not trying to be a wet blanket or what, but i feel that you're pursuing a course based on something that's not even yet started and holds no guarantee that it can be maintained.
It's a tad too risky if you ask me
