Only you yourself can remove this fear within you.Originally posted by Y_Shun:I am now in the middle of my mid-year exam.
I am feeling very stress up now...I think I screwed up my previous papers...SS + A Math
I sort of 'studied' A math by doing practise for papers, but still not enough time to revise all topics. (20 topics)
Then I got a feeling 'haven-study-enough-yet' but no choice, no time to study, because I never do practise regularly.to myself.
Then I keep on worring my other papers and I also worry to lose out to my friend. For the previous common tests, I finally excel better than him(used to be better than him, then he overtook me), then now I see him having no problems for his exams, it make me even more worried about him winning me.
Worst is I have tuition at tuition centre...then its spending my family around 300++ a month for tuitioning emaths; amaths. Now if I fail, how i 'dui de qi' my family and their hard-earned money??!?!?!![]()

Someone help me remove this fear for me =( It is making me having no confidence at all....i feel i am a weakling =(
i agree with fudgee that consistency is one of the most important factor when coming to exam. Some people may pass the exam with luck, but others may not.Originally posted by fudgester:I see you have identified the main cause of your problem: you weren't consistent with your studies.
So I say take this as a wake-up call. If you do have homework over the June holidays, then do them to the best of your efforts. Either way, slowly revise over the June holidays. Your peers may mock you for this; to heck with 'em. You know that you need to be consistent if you plan to do well.
Whatever the case, see it this way: whatever happens in your mid-year will have no bearing on your O Levels. I know of people who screwed up their Sec 4 mid-year exams only to excel at the O Levels.... because they learnt from their mistakes.
So just do whatever you can for your mid-year and take it as a lesson on what you should do (and what you should NOT do) for your prelims and O Levels.

I would suggest to u that u should not fear losing out to ur fren, but rather, u should fear lose out to youself.Originally posted by Y_Shun:I am now in the middle of my mid-year exam.

Do u know u are giving urself undue stress by competing with your friend? I know its inevitable that among friends, they tend 2 compete in studies, but studying for A-Levels is already hard enough, without having to worry about other things like what results your friends get.
I would say that its only the Mid-year. Just try your best, and whatever the results u get back, do not despair. Instead, use it as a motivational tool, and start studying from then on. Do not attempt to start studying only after ur Prelims, especially if you are the type that needs time to absorb whatever things you have learnt. During my time, most of us only start 2 wake up and study after our Prelims. I do not encourage u follow in our footsteps.
You can start studying bit by bit after your mid-year exams, so that when your A-levels are near, you need not cramp the whole book, but instead just flip through the chapters and parts u think u are not so strong in. Also, go approach your tutors in subjects you are weak in. Do not fear embarassement, or scare they think u ask stupid questions. I was like that during my JC days, and as a result, I realise I didnt know a lot of stuff, and nearly died a horrible death during my A-levels.
All the best for your A-level. Remember, the only person u must beat is not others, but yourself. Do not compete with others, but try 2 push urself 2 get better grades. And ask for help from ur school, as well as private tutors. They are there to do their job, and that is to help u.
