Seriously, I don't see why u should stop contacting her at all in the first place.
I would say I am in a similar situation as you.
There's this girl I had liked since Sec 1. Including this year, more than 10 years liao.
Told her twice before I like her, both times she just change topic.
Now, she treats me as her best guy buddy.
Though i still have feelings for her, I know its probably impossible between us.
So, I just stay by her side, and be the person who will be there for her always.
Lend her my shoulder when she is tire, hear her problems when she needs a ear, be her pillar of strength when it seems the whole world has turned their back on her.
Many a times, u need not be together with that person to be happy. For me, just being near her, and knowing she is happy, I'm happy too.
People may call me stupid, but really, I think I would rather be the fool who stands by her silently than be someone who pines for her, and yet break off all contact with her.
You two may never become lovers, but at the very least, be her soulmate.
A relationship may never last forever, but true friends stay together forever.
