You want you can try forums here......
Join outdoor bound clubs if you are an active type. Go LAN shop or arcade to have fun if you are more of the gaming type. If you are still schooling, go libraries if your are the bookworm type.
Of course there is the more socially 'norm' type

It depends on what kind of company you prefer, then you will know what activities the 'guys' normally go for. There is the avid shuttlers badminton weekly. You can go have a look. Go to that forum to find out more loh. -

Since you are not schooling anymore, you can try from your workplace. Network there. Get to know the colleagues there. You may not like them much or have any particualr interests, but they can bring you more friends from their social circle.
Of course there is the trust & distrust thing. Its up to you to decide who or what you can trust upon.
Most important of all is: what is your purpose for doing all these? Why are you doing all these? Check your heart and morality. Gauge your integrity and conscience. Do, but do not do it for the sake of doing it.

Join up something you like.
Cause you can know guys in many ways,
Not just joining.
