the U channel talk show once had a discussion on this topic. It really depends on the persons involve. The case example they brought up end up with the guy being the nanny for their kids though not to forget he managed to attain a private degree at the end

This is what I feel only(I might be wrong).
The failure of this relationship is not deal to girl has higher education than guy!
More like she is giving all the "REASONS" why she wants to leave. -
i think if the difference is too great, then yes, education matters in a relationship. End of the day, your company of friends, your working environment, your views on things are all different.
I'd only known one couple, female is a Phd, male is a O level grad, happily married for a few years now. However, he owns a business and is widely traveled. -

People might tell you it doesn't, you might think it doesn't coz people tell you it doesn't, but deep in your heart, you know it does.

It does if you tell yourself that. It dun if you can find a way to counter. It's all in you.
She can still be having a higher education than you, but you can provide her with a decent life.
Meaning, she will not be the major income provider, but you. Sad to say in Singapore, if the woman is the one that earns more than the guy...ppl will start talking. I am not saying that it's ok that guys depends on their woman, but as long as she can understand that you are doing your best and will keep improving and upgrade yourself then I think the higher education part is not that important.
There are guys that does not have higher education than their wife but they still can provide what it takes to support a family!

I guess the issue boils down to money, coz if the guy is well-to-do, I don't suppose his lower education would be an issue. So it depends on what each party expects of the other in the r/s. If it's a democratic r/s, it will not matter who has higher education, or who brings in more bacon. If the r/s is "old-fashioned " where the man (with the lower education, and assuming lower salary) is expected to provide for everything, then the gal shd not get involved with him in the first place.
It boils down to this: What does the gal want / love - the man or a certain lifestyle / status that she expects to have? -

please elaborate further so as we can help you more and not to let us judge that this gf is biased on education level....the problem might lies in somewhere else,other wise,i don think this r/s can sustain for 5 years... -

Than I met my current bf, 3 years older than me, an advance diploma holder starting from ITE, very caring and alway seek my opinons. No Doubt I may not have Jaguar to look for, at least I found my Love. -

He is also very full of pride, proud and like to command and control.
I earn more than him, he keep wanting to control my spending.
Every time I use my own money to buy things I like, he'd complain about me being a spender, but when I spend money on him, he keep quiet lor.
I also hated it and left him. -

It should be "does people change in a different environment? "
If the above is true, then, the answer is a big "YES"
People from university and people not from university's mentality are completely different... This is especially true if one is from local "ELITE" university... During the days of university, students will mix around, discuss future, discuss everything and this will cause change in them without knowing... In fact, if u look in world affairs, university is good place to brainwash students...
And it is also not surprising that people will change easily in Singapore coz Singapore is a fast pace society...

Most people will change in different environment in order to adapt...
But there are examples when people wont break a relationship because of change in them :
1) Some are stubborn 1
2) Some have family - (kids) where they treat their kids as their only drive in life
3) Some experience too much in life liao where they can overcome these problem easily...

Becoz most ppl thk higher edu = earn more $$ = better life...so i feel gals look up for security rather than jus "edu"...thinking is more impt, i have seen some ppl hav really high edu (like phD), they can be v. stupid and they perform not as gs as tos ppl who hav no degrees
