Socially retarded

  well i am just always very very anxious in any social enviroment that it is affecting me terribly.People might just say that normal lah,just shy,but i know it is not,it is way more than shyness when i am just too apprehensive around people.So bad that i will try my way to avoid people with this irrational fear that i have inside.I should have general anxiety too as i get anxious in too many situations.
  
  So any recommendations?
  
  I have thought of seeing a psychiatrist,but the referral wait to see a doctor in a public hospital is just too long.....so if anyone have recommendation of a good private psychiatrist,would really welcome the recommendation

  It should be Social Anxiety Disorder. I'm sure there's nothing wrong with you.
  Sometimes people get so caught up with 1 problem that they begin to believe it's more but infact it's ONLY 1 PROBLEM.

  since u have identified your own problem, it means u are prepared to solve it. break out of your comfort zone and go out and meet some friends. maybe in groups of two or three..join youth groups or churches that organize social activities..or even just go down to your own basketball court to play regularly..u will learn to interact with people in a more comfortable environment..taking the effort to jus say hi to someone is a point earned..so ya..one point at a time..n soon u'll overcome this problem..at first it might seem like a struggle..but it will get easier over time..((:
  
  or maybe u mean, u need a doctor? u can try hypnosis..there's one clinic at Holland V..or just check out the internet for other clinics..i heard it's quite useful.. ((:

  Think it is psychologist that you need to see. After seeing the psychologist, if he or she thinks you need to see a psychiatristl, I believe he or she will recommend you.

  u just go out more with ur frens.. get more new friend..is not bout shyness its more to like you dun hav any expeirience bout this thing... so u dun get used and not comfortable..
  
  Just get to know net-gal-fren, then ask her out n start conversation.
  
  I used to be very shy or dun talk to stranger.. but its very good now i can talk to any stranger gal at any time

  Actually I believe all u need is a good friend who is aware of your “problem” and is willing to help u discard your shell... as in accompany u to social situations that u might not be able to handle and all. I guess in time, as you develop your confidence, u should be able to get rid of the anxiety of meeting new ppl and all. Heh… one thought u can always carry around with you – the other party is just as nervous as you

  erm, try to visit polyclinics...they can refer u to a specialist, i went thru with TTSH neuroscience. the good thing abt going to polyclinics is u'll be referred under class C with is relatively cheap. just endure the initial long queue

  there is no such thing as cure, but there are therapies that can help u overcome it.
