Get a grp of like minded or seems to be like minded ppl like u first. Be very close to them. So nxt time when u backstab others, u got backup where the person cannot attack u, neither can they defend.

i agree that if you have a clear conscience,you have nothing to be afraid of.
But the prob is not always within your control,and by the time u found out ur b-stabbed,u may have been passed over for a promotion or worse still,lose ur rice-bowl.i tink dats the saddest part.
You will be back stabbed regardless if you have a clear conscious or not simply because we have a dog eat dog world out here.
Especially in the corporate environment which sees the survival of the fittest, back stabbing is a well practised way of advancement.
Get used to the harsh reality of working life mate. (Are you a student or working adult btw??)
The point here is back stabbing cannot be avoided, so you must have the guile to be able to think and anticipate before any lowly person
starts to stab you unknowingly. There are many tell tale signs, trust me...

Get a group of like-minded peeps? Only if you plan to use them like they use you too. You never know this so call like-minded group of peeps might gang up on you once they got rid of their enemies with 'your' help. IMO TRUST NO ONE IN THE WORK PLACE!!! Watch your own back. It's not possible to rise to the very top. Beyond your immediate environment/successes, there will always be another in a higher place. Even stars die. Me thinks it's right to do by yourself. Some reasons i can think of
-power
-greed
-jealusy
-love
-revenge/hatred
-self interest
-self-esteem problems hence the need to show others their "capability"
-those who are bullied want to redeem themselves
-to gain advantage over others
-cant accomplish tasks thru the "right" channels hence hv to use underhand means/taking convenient shortcut
But then again even those who are capable and can achieve success thru hard work on their own and proper "channels" may also backstab. Why?
Is it then due to imperfections in the management or policies of the company which puts employees on a lop-sided playing field, and which spurs people to think of all kinds of ways to get a head-start over others?
This leads me thinking. Is it possible to be wise enough to avoid being backstabbed by others ie avoiding the arrows and "knives" etc while a person goes on as usual doing their own stuff and business and still be able to rise to the top?
This does not mean they will totally not get involved in office politics, but they are the "third-party" rather than the "first-party" in the game of politics
Any comments?
Even when I try avoiding stand offs, even when I'm not in a position important enough to warrant back stabbing and antagonism, sure enough someone else will think of some ways to stir some trouble. These people are bored people. They are either too bored, too unimportant or they are all women.
Moral of the story is speak very little. Speak only when necessary. Maintain a safe distance from unimportant co workers. Acknowledge them, be polite but don't show too much teeth. Forget about flaunting your personality, save that for the mistress or for bed time. That is the safest way. Do not engage in too much idle banter and quietly move away in the presence of ill conversation. That means when somebody is getting fired, told off, or spoken ill of. See no evil. Hear no evil. Speak no evil.
Either that or you listen a lot and speak little. Information is power.
