Next time, in any job you embark on, you must have the contract of service.
Now here are the some rules from the employment act that may help you.
1. Engaging a worker without a contract of service is an offend under the laws of employers and employees arena.
Wrong, MOM has no rules or guidelines....its mutual agreement between employer & employee, contract only serves as legal binding document if signed.
2. Any unconfirmed staff/worker can resign or ask to go within the 24 hours notice to be serve by either the employee or employer.
Wong again, T&C depends on the contract signed. Such conditions may only apply to high level positions even when they are confirmed.
3. All paid after the serve of notice must be settle within 7 days from the day of notice. If not it can be reported to Ministry of Manpower to take action.

4. Any work done must be paid irregardless of any disputes. Even if the employee do not come and take the paid, it must be send to his/her house.
Wrong again, if employee has not dutifully discharge his/her duties. However, these must be documented in the form of warning letters. Witholding of pay is possible if all these are done.
What you can do is tell the manager that you are going to NTUC to launch a complain at Marina One Boulevard about no paid, next you will proceed to MOM to launch another complain on failure to provide a contract of service and refuse of payment for service.
