Thanks! I'll take a look at the subjects they're offering. I prefer getitng into an Arts Faculty though. I've heard they're not as demanding when it comes to grades, but... :-< my grades are gonna suck D:Originally posted by missqi:SIM? it's not as bad as people think it is.
Not as demanding? Where did you hear that.Originally posted by backwards:Thanks! I'll take a look at the subjects they're offering. I prefer getitng into an Arts Faculty though. I've heard they're not as demanding when it comes to grades, but... :-< my grades are gonna suck D:
Don't chose a course because it's easier to get in, chose one which you like.Originally posted by backwards:Taking A Levels this year, but after doing super horribly for my Maths Paper (best I can get is an S.....) and the fact that I can't remember anything Physics or Chem, I don't know how my chances to get into uni will be.
What has been the minimum grade combination people have had and still managed to get into NUS? I'm looking at not-too-popular choices like Japanese/Chinese studies.
Worse to worse, I'm considering retaking A Levels, but I really want to try hard no to. This is really a bummer for me. Can't even concentrate to good >_>
From a senior of mine in NUS FASS now. Although she got 4A's so she's certainly not talking about herself :-<Originally posted by LazerLordz:Not as demanding? Where did you hear that.
Just curious, which major do you have in mind? GP is very vital these days when it comes to admission.
Better hit a B3 and above.
As are easy to get depending on a few factors. However, some departments are not a cakewalk.Originally posted by backwards:From a senior of mine in NUS FASS now. Although she got 4A's so she's certainly not talking about herself :-<
I'm interested in either Japanese or Chinese studies right now. My GP is on/off. I usually fluctuare between A-C in common tests but I don't think I did too well this time round...
I AM interested in that course. That's mainly the reason I'm so keen in getting into NUS instead of SMU or SIM :-<Originally posted by Darkness_hacker99:Don't chose a course because it's easier to get in, chose one which you like.
I can't ever seem to get A's. Even in school exams I get them rarely. Prelims = U for Chem, S for Maths >_>Originally posted by LazerLordz:As are easy to get depending on a few factors. However, some departments are not a cakewalk.
E.g Political Science, Theatre Studies, Literature.
Japanese Studies is not as tough.
You don't need an Econs background to study Political Science, you need to have a keen eye for observing trends in current affairs, interest in politics and world affairs...Originally posted by backwards:I can't ever seem to get A's. I see, I see. That helps, thanks! I was considering Literature too, but maybe not anymore. I considered Political Science too but a friend said Econs might be importantish for that, and my Econs sure :\
And that makes me feel a little less bummed. A little XD Would a triple C or a triple D get you anywhere near Jap/Chinese Studs though? :-<
Thanks, you've been a great helpOriginally posted by LazerLordz:You don't need an Econs background to study Political Science, you need to have a keen eye for observing trends in current affairs, interest in politics and world affairs...
You don't have to select your major when you enter. The downside is that you should aim to get the grades that the toughest major generally requires.Originally posted by backwards:Thanks, you've been a great help
If I ever manage to get the grades for uni admission (-.-;;, I'll revise my dept choices.
I seeOriginally posted by LazerLordz:You don't have to select your major when you enter. The downside is that you should aim to get the grades that the toughest major generally requires.
E.g GP B3 and above for Pol Sci, Lit, Theatre Studies - so aim to get an A2..
