2) Yes. But you can only do this once for poly courses. In this JAE, you cannot choose any JC courses in your 12 options.
3) Generally, you can defer until you have completed either 'A' Levels or Diploma. Deferment is usually not granted for undergraduate studies in universities anywhere, including local unis. -

i know of retainees who still managed to enter Law in NUS -
Don't fret just because you are detained to repeat another year.. I repeated yr 1 too; and also repeated yr 2 to retake my A levels; yes, I spent 4 years in JC...
Its a matter of knowing your interest, your inclination to which subject (whether you're an Arts of Sci student) and also what do you see yourself doing in the future.
My advice, go for the Poly and forget about JC.
If you really want to be in JC, then ensure your next 2 years are filled with hard work and perserverance.

agree wif fireice, it is better to retain in jc since poly is only start in somewhere may. so instead of wasting 3 months for JAE, u should catch up n amend urself.

Being retained is not the end of the world. Just make sure you make use of next year if you decide to stay on in JC.
Take it as zhao NS for 1 more year.

I dun know which bunk they are going to allocate u to.
Dun mean to scare you...
Anyway, you should really ask yourself.
Are you really the cut to study or not?
If u already put in a lot of effort liao, then still kena retain, i suggest u go poly.
Dun risk wasting another year in JC and then u realize ur not the cut to study.
It may sound harsh but its true.
We jc students either make it or break.
so must really think carefully

no point going to poly if u are not interested. I have friends who got retained in year1/2 and they scored better. The main thing is hard work...although it's stressful.

If you think you got retained because you did not put in effort, then you should go for A's.

My Advice : A degree is worth much more then a diploma you will realize this when you come into the working world. Don't give up just like that. Retaking subjects can make them much easier...Try other alternatives also go for tuition, drop a subject ect ect
Many ppl will do anything to get into nus,ntu and smu and you are in the path
that is going to lead you straight there so don't give up Ok.
My friend got into nus psychology with just 3Cs -

You can still apply thru JAE because you haven't used up your poly option yet
so you don't have to apply using DAE -
