Did I at any point say that you
can't do it?
Very well, taking into account your age, I'll make it explicit. First and foremost, clarity is not something you turn on and off because it creates some very bad habits vis-a-vis writing. I work in research these days, but in the past I've worked with writers in various publications including the Straits Times and Elle, and regardless of the context, you'll never find a lack of clarity from anybody who writes for a living, be it a research, newspaper or magazine article, an email or a scrawl on a Post-It note. If you're serious about going down this track, make clear writing a habit. "Sorta", "thing" and "I dunno" are just too vague.
Second, it's probably early days for you yet, but pay attention to the subtext - what is the writer actually saying. Develop the sense to identify the subtle difference between someone telling you what you need to start paying attention to and someone telling you that you can't do something. Read articles from a wide range of publications and learn to tell the difference between hamfisted articles that tell you what to think and articles that convince you of a point by putting forward a set of points to the intended end.
I do wish you all the best, but if you're seriously looking at this endeavour, you will really need to start getting an understanding of the name of the game.
