Academic dilemma

Hi guys, I've this dilemma for the pass few weeks already. I just ORD and currently have a dipolma and Adv Dip (Part Time). Both are from SP.
So.. i intend to further my studies in pursue of my degree. However, I did very badly for my diploma in electroonics but managed to get a GPA of 3.4 for my adv dip (Part Time).
Ok, so here's the problem. I got accepted by Uni of Western Aus and school starts in Feb, but going over there seriously is going to cost alot and since I just ORD-ed, I have no savings of that amount and will require my parents to support me through the years.
Now I'm asking if I should wait till July to try applying for local uni, NUS, NTU or SMU
OR
Should I just go for the Feb intake in Aus ?

1)Do u have any CCA records that are outstanding? Such as President of Student Council, help to form a new club etc?
2)Have u ever represented Singapore in any sports/games/tournaments and won medals?
3)Do u do volunteer work such as helping out at old folks home, children's home at your OWN FREE TIME(not those school ask u go then u go type)
4)Do u have any talents(play classical music, play violin etc)
Reason I am asking all these is because although ur GPA is quite ok, it makes u no different from the others. What u need is something that can make u stand out from the rest. Remember, there are thousands fighting for that coveted spot at 1 of the 3 Big Unis, and there are competitions from JCs, Polys as well as those from overseas. You must be able to prove that u are different from the rest.
Ask urself this: Are u willing to risk the possiblity that u may not make the cut for any of the 3 unis in Singapore, and then possibly spend 2008 working rathering than studying as u wait for the new school term to start(I am guessing there's only 1 intake a year?) in Aussie at 2009. That's the thing u should ask urself. -
maybe u sld ask urself is there a course u wan in singapore uni? if not it is best to go auzzie..
i m not sure if local uni recognize advanced dip.. -
Mmm.. I wanted to study business management or finance. Which i heard is very very competitive among the local Unis.
And yes.. I'm not different from other applicants because I do not have any outstanding achievements during my school days.
I guess most prob I'll b going off to Aus then... seeing all the replies here..

If you have made up your mind about going overseas, make sure you set out your plans well. In that way, everything goes smoothly when you reach there.
I am a singaporean student studying engineering in sydney, and i feel that the most important thing is to set out your finances and accomodation well. Since you've made up your mind on your course of study , that shouldn't be a hassle.
Previously, I was rejected by NTU twice, possibly I didn't make the mark. But since moving on to overseas for further education recently, I've never looked back. Although I am faced with setbacks earlier, it became better as time passes, and till now, I am glad I have made this choice.
I hope it'll be a good experience for you if you've decided on life outside singapore. Who knows, a job opportunity might be waiting for you! -

Yup.. studying at the uni which closed down in singapore recently.

if i had the money i would go aus and study sia. seriously,than get a PR there and get a job there as well. i feel that if u wanna take a business deg, the best way to make use of ur business deg is to make ur own business,with all that knowledge u learnt. sg now full of foreigners la.i also just ord nxt yr enter uni,4 yrs later sure got so much more foreigners, i think quite jialat also..
