I signed up a part time diploma course (start oct 07) on sep 07 and paid $1.8k for the deposit.
The course i signed up was on tue n sat but a week b4 the lesson start,
the school sent me a letter stating the course changed to wed n fri.
Due to work, i'm not able to attend therefore i asked for a refund
The admin told me that if i were to refund now, i will only get back 25% of the deposit because the lesson has already started. (BUT I hav not attened any of the lessons)
The admin then offered me that she will help me to get back full refund but I will receive the refund in two months time. She didn't give me a clear date.
In order to get back full refund, the admin, (said) she would register me on NOV 07 course.
Q1 why can't the sch FULLY refund me within a month when clearly this is their faults for changing the timeslot out of a sudden?
Q2 And does it really takes TWO MONTHS to process a refund?!
I had asked these questions and the admin replied she had no idea why either n It's the finance department's duties n told me to wait.
Should I complain to CASE now or should I wait for two months for the refund?
When u sign up for the course, did u look at the course brocheure or something like that? Either that, or in the course booklet u receive before u start classes there will be a section on refund policies. It wouldn't matter if you have attended any lesson yet when the course start, as long as it has started and u decide to withdraw from the course, u would receive less than the full amount u pay as refund. But i sympathise with u because they inform u of the timetable so late. This will answer ur 1st question as to why u are not getting FULL refund.
As for the 2nd question, I think it depends on individual schools. their refund policy may be 2 months, and hence they tell u it takes 2 months. As to whether u can complain to Case, I am not sure, although I suggest u wait until u receive ur refund liao then see how. If u do not get the amount they told u u will be receiving, then u should complain. In the meantime, I doubt they can do anything, since the school set the refund policy, and when u sign up for the course, they can say that u agree 2 abide by the school's policies, regardless of whether u know about their policies or not. They can claim that its all stated clearly in the course outline, and if it is true and u do not read it, then it is ur fault.
Btw, I KPO a bit, can tell which Private school course u sign up for?
