I now going sec 4 liao...then the sec 3 result quite bad pass 5 failed 3...
then now I dropping A maths..then my mum keep nagging at me say wat my marks not enuff go poly then I very fan then go tell her then like that go Ite la...then she really believe , I studying in Bpghs special stream...the school papaer is obviously even harder then O levels...she thinks I will get same result,even my physics teacher told me that if you fail in school paper you only get B4 at most in O level You shud work harder for A1....now she telling me if you dun want study I let you go NS first....I really dunno wtf she wants, I jus joke joke say go Ite nia...

i wasn't a very good student in the past too.
did very badly in sec 3, but i worked really hard in sec 4. i'm just naturally bad at math. from F9 to B4.
can wan. you need motivation and encouragement.
your mum is just worried, and all good parents would be worrying.
i find that i study better with friends and without any distractions like computers, and i cannot study in places that are too quiet too. so i study in coffeebean.
u have to find out what's your best study patterns are. and stick to it

work harder. jus bcos u from an above average sku doesnt mean can slack off.
actually sec3 is time to enjoy. sec4 mug whole year confirm + chop 6 pts. i play play study 2 mths can get from 25 prelim to 14 O's. i was frm VS if its any concern to you. -

Anyway the A Maths there is tough, I agree, because I was from there. Anyway, I would say you made quite a bad choice dropping there since you are already in sec 4. They just do not want people to affect their aggregate by so called "filtering" out. Anway, same thing happened to my friend then, the teacher V****** Lee (if you really from bpghs, should know who he is) forced her to drop because she got an F9 during sec 4 mid year, but she refused. End up A level A2 =/ .. ANyway just try your best ba.. ALl the best! -
My A maths rose frm F9 to A1, frm mid yr to prelims. Just..get some time and spam tys.. cfm can one..Drop a maths? Liddat can only take h1 maths in jc leh

Well, keep working at it. IIRC, school papers are always tougher than external examination boards'.
Way back, I never took Add Math in Sec School, finished near the bottom of my Express cohort, went on to Pre-U due to horrendous O-level grades, and still managed to do my undergraduate studies at NUS.
It's about perseverance.

ok lah serious a bit. Try doing ten year series to boost your confidence and show your mother that you can score in the Os. then after that can slowly move on to other more difficult papers.
Oh ya i just finished my Os so dont worry your time will come and i gt A1 for A and E maths in my prelims. From Band 3 school(only express class, my school no normal) like that very easy to guess what school already... -
close your room doors and ignore your parents.. concentrate on your goals and work towards it..
thats what i do as both of my parents are non eduacated with no knowledge of the schooling systems and only thing they know is take my report book at each end of year and pass negative judgements from it...
theres no point talking anything to them.. -

ask ur mother how sending u to NS 1st will improve ur grades.. as if 2 yrs of non-studying will make u love studying like dat.. u doing fine wat.. pass 5 fail 3.. i sec 3 fail 3 oso.. my geog lit and a.maths.. pia for sec 4 in the end results oso decent..
just work hard la.. when u are young, parents tend to be dam naggy.. just ignore them.. they scold u and say all those insulting, non helpful remarks den u heck it lo.. block them out of ur mind.. but if they are wiling to talk nicely and have helpful ideas den ok la.. -

a really rundown ite with lifts that ppl in the right mind wound't take.. toilets with only 1cubicle and area of about 3m square.. cockroach flipflapping in the sinks .no aircon and with only mosquitoes to feed..even the staircase up the school building is the kinda of at construction sites temporary uses..lifts with fake buttons..computers of the pass generation era..with a assembly ground cum alternate stairways -
do your very best. going ite isnt an insult, its just another path to walk.

in contrast to simei ite with full fledged stadium with hunks training half naked.. beside it there's still swimming pool,yes u heard me right,a swimming pool,as well as a tennis court,air con cateen,bookshops with cheaps stationery.. i cannot find a un-airconditioned room throughout the entire building.. even the toilets is so spacious that designs resembles raffles hotel's..
apparently the students there doesnt know to treasure it.. each and every door of every cubicle unit was torn down by their barbaric behaviors,no joke, u cant find a cubicle unit with a proper functioning door still attached to the wall.. its all torn down.. -

All parents naturally wan their kids to do well....got to understand her.
Btw, don't always use the excuse that the school exam paper is harder than the actual O level papers...in case you didn't realise that the paper is getting harder and harder over the years. I rem PSLE wasnt tat difficult last time, but when i start to give tuition, i realised that the standard has raised a lot since my time ( which was like 8 years back).
The L1R5 is getting lesser and lesser for JC standards and even for poly, some popular good courses nids lesser points than you expected.
So mug hard ok, its the amt of effort that you think u should put in. -

Sec sch, JC, Uni are totally DIFFERENT FORM OF LEARNING PACE
i can cope sec, JC well as if like no kick at all. Uni is having A level every 3 months for 4 sub or more mind u. -
just hang in there, if the school standard is very high, chances are that you'll find the O level paper itself "no kick"
i was as bad as you in Amaths before, failed from start of sec3 to sec4 prelim, but somehow, the O level paper was very easy.
TYS really helps, you will eventually see how straightforward the questions are, since amaths problems aren't as flexible as emaths. -
From the tys series u do you should be able to see a pattern in e maths,pure physic and chem(if u are taking)
From there u should be able to know which chapter to study more -
I used to score F9 for Add Maths. Worse part is my maths teacher rotates Add Maths/E Maths tests once every week. And he took other schools papers eg Raffles Institute, Cedar Girls (all those prestigious schools) for us to do. And i never score more than 33 before. So practically every week i'm failing... However, after some time my teacher know i am not the calibre, so he just ask me to just do 10-year series. I spent 1-month studying from 8pm-2am almost every night...After that I managed to score A2 for my Add Maths. And i didnt even bother about my tb (unless i'm searching for something).
so, if u think add maths really very difficult, just do 10-year series will do...
