Since it is a pub girl, it should be easy to stop it from becoming a serious relationship.
Of course if he is not serious about the pub girl, and he is only playing around, you break up this one, he goes with another one, that's all.
The way to stop it from becoming serious is easy if you are willing to spend some money.
As a pub girl, you can get a guy to go to the pub, buy her drinks, give her money and play with her.
You video it and upload to u-tube.
Next you tell the jerk that you 'happen' to see a video of his pub girl kissing another guy (or worse) in u-tube.
But like I said, if he is not serious about the pub girl, he wouldn't be bothered at all.
If he tells the girl not to do it again, she would demand that he supports her and waste all his money. Which is not a bad revenge at all...

If he break with this thai girl - that is not the solution, yep he may come back to your friend for the time being.... but for how long ? He will soon find new girl .... !!!
So advice for your friend, just let it go, and move on with her life. -
Ur fren is one lucky ger.... itis better to lost such useless guy early on then after marriage. What used is such a r/s which cant withstand a little storm from thai's pub babe in short skirt.

My cousin work at people's park money exchange and remittence shop at second floors, he told me chinese gals at time can send home as much as $12,000 per month or even higher to their Bank of China account in china, yet they act poor and lonely here to seduce uncles to give away their money to them. I do agree that relationship cannot be interferred, but we must always voice out to our fellow countrymen/women about the danger of such relationship, we must promote awareness of money minded foreigner gals taking our men, husband, bf, relatives, frens and even colleagues.

Maybe it's the companionship and that he was there for her when she needed him during the first 3 years of relationship.
Or maybe for the fact that he stood by her when she needed him the most.

Don't know much about being under the 'thai spell' thing that most of you guys have mentioned though but I would have to say that it could have also been the influence of friends.
His friends are much more well-to-do than he is and they could afford to spare the extra cash coz they are still under an allowance from their parents. He lives however, from hand-to-mouth.
The girl has tried her best to borrow $2k to help him stay out of jail. She doesn't know if he's touched by it but she thinks now that she's a failure. She doesn't know which one's more painful
1) Knowing that he's doing the wrong thing, but at least he's happy
2) Trying to teach him the right thing but making him very extremely unhappy.
