Peeps, tell me what i should do. ..
my best buddy's gal had diabetes. . she's only 17.
dunno exactly wads her condition, but i heard tad she inherit it through the genes.
My friens has been emotionally stress, and being a friend, i wanna help him alot, but im afraid the issue maybe too sensitive for him.
wad can i do?

no. but that said I know more people with it than I could shake a stick at and i couldn't say it really bothers any of them. it's usually a pretty easily managable condition (type 2, being the most common) it just requires getting into the habit of checking blood sugar levels regularly and having some insulin (and often something sugarry) around at all times just in case. but you can't 'cure' diabetes. (not yet anyway, I think there's a few clinical tests going on re using gene therapy to treat type 1 though but that's at least 20 or 30 years away from being in general use)Originally posted by Arena:i think the condition can be reversed 1 right?

anyway if it's getting to your friend a lot I think the key is to make sure she/he really knows about it, usually it's not that scary it just requires a few changes to daily life to manage it but if you leave the words 'chronic disease' hanging in the air it'll probably seem a lot nastier than it has to

although diabetes is one of the most common and fatal dieseases around it is actually the easiest to cure. the only problem is most diabetics dont bother. a healthy diet and regular exercise is enough to fight diabetes. both my parents are diabetic, its only a matter of time before i become one myself but i'm not taking any chances.
