close friend wants to borrow $

I would consider this guy my close friend. But we never talk in about 1 month then he suddenly ask to borrow $200. Usually when we borrow money we will say why right? But he never tell me...

Since it is a close friend, you may want to be more concerned for him apart from lending money. Be prepared that the money could be there for a long long time, maybe not even be returned. REcession maybe just round the corner, make sure you have enough cash.
Lately a relative just borrowed $3k from me. i lent, and immediately made a provision of 50% for doubtful debts. -

so to my friends who want to borrow money from me, i always tell them, "i don't want to hurt our friendship...sorry i can't lend it to you. i always have bad experience when i lend out money in the past. u may tell me it won't happen with you, but i don't want to risk it. sorry. i can't help u in monetary terms, but i can try to help you in other ways."
real friends ownself also understand de la. if he gets angry with you or whatever, then don't want that friend also ok. seriously. -

but anyway, 200 mite b quite a small figure to cheat of. depending on his past tracks, u can roughly gauge whether to lend him or not. -

i think its alright, also say is close friend.
for me i guage on my own lor.... you will know if he is good fren or bad fren, 200 is a small amount la.. at least u lend him 1st lor...
wanna lend again don lendhim anymore.. cuz cant rely on friend all the time, where family gone too right?

If you got the money, you can lend him as he is your close friend.
If you are broke yourself then dont.
I wont lend 200 to a person I dont trust will return me.
I will say I am tight on cash myself and sorry.

what real friends won't lend money? wtf is that kind of crap. total bullshiat.
REAL frens will lend you money if you're seriously in need for it, apart from gambling. if that fren come up with this or that excuse then that fren is not dependant. only a handful of ppl out there make real frens, those you can depend on when you're in serious sh|t. -

no lor.........i lent my close friend $200 in 2005 and I asked what he want it for and he refused to answer me.....later i found out he went to gamble in soccer with tthat money.....in the end, he avoided my calls and sms and asked me not to disturb him again. I wanted to go to his house ask his parents but he threatended me if i went down, he give me colour see....and blah blah blah. so ugly right? In the end, I wrote off the debt. once bitten twice shy.
then I lent my other friend about $200 but this friend i know his character very well, he really wanted to take this girl on a farewell date before she leaves for overseas studies so I lent cos his salary not credited into his bank yet. I trusted him and didnt even need to ask from him and he automatic return alrdy. swee swee.
actually u can tell 1 lah, ur friend is what kind of pattern. those sibei chao kuan pattern forget it alrdy.
Only lend if u know what he is going to do with the money.
if its for the wrong reasons, pls save up ur money. if u throw that money into a pond and make a wish, it might still come true k.
if u lend, u might lose a friend and the money together. -

If he really in need , and you are able to lend him , lend him lor , nonid go and ask him when return , when he able to return and he really want return , he will return , no point chasing him for it -
Depends on whether you have the money to spare.
If you are that close to that friend, then it is a good test on whether he can stays as a friend to you.
If he can return you without you asking, then it is good.
But, you have to pester him to return and he acts blur.
Then, you can forget about this "friend" and your $200.
It is different definition for each individual.
For me, I try not to have any $$$ dealings with my friends unless they have some last minute emergency.
I have learned the "lesson" the hard way by paying the "fees".

If you want to lend th $200, be prepared to write it off. -

if ur close frend really no money of wadso ever, offer ur help in some way instead of giving money to solve the problem. eg buying dinner for ur frend.. is better than using money to hurt ur frendship.

i know this guy he met this china girl who conned him with a sad story about her life suffering, and he went to borrow a large sum of money from loansharks.
then ask me to help him clear debt. -

I also borrowed $200 to my friend, and now I'd wrote it off bad debts. It's an expensive lesson to me.
