i was born in malaysia and i came to ny at age 8 til now im 17.........now i live here by myself alone and my parents want me to go back and study college in sg...........this is the biggest decision ive made til my life now......i dont know if i want to go back because im used to ny........so many fun things and friends here at ny but i dont know if life would be bad in sg......someone give me advice.
sg is a fine fine place to study and work... but dun become a sg citizen.
So you've spend a good part of your life in NY. That's gonna be a little bit tough to uproot, but given your age, you should still be very adaptable to a new lifestyle.
I suppose it really depends on how adventurous you are.
Since you have lived alone for so many years, you must be a very independent person already. So even if you go live in a place like Khazakstan, you'd probably still be able to survive and thrive.
There will be pros and cons. Being an Asian, you'd have less problem with culture shock. Cons is, you'd still get a culture shock. But it's just temporary.
The only way for you to be sure, is to spend some time in SG before you commit. If you enjoy city life. You'd get plenty of city life. A city that doesn't sleep.
Friends of mine who gets posted to Asia loves Singapore.
yes i heard people sleep late and get to go out for dinner so late in the morning....sounds like a nice place
i also liked to know what kind of people are there in sg......i heard its mixed?

Yes, Singapore is a foodie paradise.
If you like diversity and a vibrant lifestyle, you'll like Singapore.
whats bad about the government?
nope i cant see it......what is it about?
why come back to sg for the education? To me, education in the state seem rather good, unless u end up in a bad public school, rather unlikely since u r in NY. Education locally is rather straight forward and spoon feeded, just like the nanny state run gov. Personally, i think that isnt really healthy for character development. If I am ur parent, I rather u finish ur education there b4 coming back and see for urself if u fit in or think of settling down here. Most parent would fear their kid being young and ill equip to judge, might b missleaded my peers or cultrue influence there. Hence refrain sending their offspring there till they reaches late teen.

I re-linked the URL.
Anyway, your parents are now in Singapore ?
spend a week or 2 in SG first, before you commit.
u can come here to study
but don be a citizen here, finish ur studies and go back to NY ![]()
SG!
What're your plans after college education? Do you intend to get a job in Singapore or back in US?
Dude ... apply, and get into NUS, NTU or SMU first, before you consider your options .....
These may not be Columbia, but these are not exactly easy schools to get into either ...
yeah i heard nus is the best school in sg and one of the top ones in the world..............must be really hard to get into these schools then

I wouldn't read too much into the hyperbole .... but these are definitely not kucing kurap universities ......
so yeah ... get accepted first ... then make your choices ....
Sometime a change of environment is not exactly bad at all. Exposure of different culture other than the one you are living in might be good for you.
why leaving NY?
money issue?
parents want you to move back to asia?
if you are going to live in the US in the future
if money is not an issue
why not stay there and continue your studies there?
you basically grew up there
yeah money is a problem so cannot stay here.......plus a lot of prices rose in u.s now........maybe in a few years u.s will be in another depression.lol
It's starting anyway .. The exchange rate dropping so much .. And Prison break and Heroes finishing ![]()
