This is sad. Just because this movie boasted some great ideas they had to make fun of Muslims' religion. The issue here is on respecting for other religions. Does the non-Muslim ppl think it is OKAY for the Wachowskis to do such a thing? It clearly shows that they are being disrespectful.
Look, if they put Jesus on that thing, how would the christians have felt then? If the Matrix was like the Universal Truth, whatever happened to Universal Respect & Understanding???
I'm still going to watch this movie, despite this turn of events. I'm gonna take note on whether this character they cast as "Allah" is a good rolemodel or is he ever gonna make it to the big screens in the first place. However, I am doubtful that he will. I'm disappointed but if it isn't a MUST I dun haf to condemn this thing just yet. "Biased" is not a word in my dicitionary.

look spy8reak... they could have used 'allah' juz as a name with no ill intentions... it could have been 'jesus' or another another 'religious' name for that matter... they didnt release the damn movie/ character with the intention to offend the muslims... that would have affected their overall audience dont u think.. yes.. oversensitive is the word.. u seem to be making a 'mountain out of a molehill'.. maybe it was an insensitive move to use the name 'allah' on one of their characters.. but instead of speculating and having a mind set that this was done with the intention to offend people of ur religion/race.. why dont u give them the benefit of the doubt?

and about your "benefit of a doubt" theory, thing is... there is NO "benefit of a doubt". the first thing that would come to a Muslims' mindset is that they see their God's name outside of quran made from a non-Muslim... to DISCOVER that the name is being used as a character in a movie...that speaks loud enough for itself. The Muslim will IMMEDIATELY feel offended without thinking/pondering on it further... and the ugliness of it starts from there. the picture up there i posted however, isn't mine. i got it from an email.
secondly, i understand that the movie will have to go some rating and paperworks before their final cut, and i'm confident that there won't be such a character by then. my guess is that either the Wachowskis did it unintentionally/carelessly or they really spite Muslims. maybe they didn't think there'd be muslims who would watch their movie. maybe they didn't know that a percentage of the viewers were Muslims.
but not all muslims are that narrow minded. i for example, am a fan and are quite open to its ideas which are contradicting to Islam's. i've waited in anticipation for this movie. loyal. dedicated. whatever you call it. thats why i'm pissed to know this sad news. either ways, it has affected the Wachowskis image negatively.
but thats NOT the only reason why i'm pissed. think of the BIG picture. think of what might happen to the psychology of large groups of ppl. this movie which had a positive image will instead be known as a anti-Islam movie. of course, its just a name to you now. but psychology works in ways beyond description and in silence. and very much then this movie will be its own undoing. not only is their ideas contradicting islam's and true to some extent... but it is already showing signs to thwart the muslim community somewhat. "no ill intentions" you say? well, as above. it happens psychologically and ppl dun haf to actually say/do it.
this is just the stage setting. their first act. their seed of doubt which will soon grow to become something more global than just a God's name or a "molehill".
