  company is very impt to me! it will give me the courage to know more ppl and enthusiasm to particpate in activities!

  if im alone then i might just shut myself out from the others, or take a back seat in every activity.

  at least for orientation week i would be able to convince more friends to join cos it's during curriculum time and does not affect their temp jobs unlike now.

  Then in that case.... when it's time to bid for modules, and your friends all choose modules that you don't like, will you join them as well?

  nope i won't. study & work is a different thing for me. i prefer to pursue my own interest and study alone. that's why i changed my initial mech eng choice despite knowing so many friends from there.

  but when it comes to play, friends & company becomes a must. otherwise i won't enjoy fully.

  anyway do you encourage joining a cca? most of my friends dun plan to join any and heard from some seniors that it's better to concentrate on studies instead.

  Then what happens if you have to work as a team, and all of your group members are strangers?

  Orientation is there for you to learn to connect and build bridges with others. Which is why you have all those team-building activities to get everyone to learn to work with each other.

  If you're unwilling to get to know other people during fun and games, then will you do the same for work as well? Group projects are an inescapable part of undergraduate life.

  i did not say i was unwilling to know other people, just that i need courage to do so, from my friends. if i were unwilling then i wouldn't have thought of joining the camp or orientation at all.

  working in a team is fine, since striking a discussion on work is easier for me. though the friendship might get rather bland from all the work-related discussion... after all it's the existence of a group project that binds team members together. ok i think it's very superficial of me to say that, but i doubt project is a enjoyable experience for everyone...

  Then in that case.... it's time you learn to come up with courage from within yourself. Your friends may not always be there to give you the courage that you need.

  And believe me, a team that works together for the sake of getting the job done is not the best team there is. It's all clinical, business-like... if you just allow the pure existence of the project be the only thing that binds the team together, then all you get is a broken egg held together with super glue. One knock, and it cracks.

  I joined SCAMP... its a science fac camp on 23rd to 27th june

  After reading all your comments I realised that I really need friends in uni to help me go through the ups and downs. One of the reasons Im afraid of going is that people may dislike me one way or another... but it dawned upon me that I wont be friends with such people anyway. Real friends will tolerate and compromise with each other... whats important is to find friends that are mine and ignore unwanted comments.

  Good for you. With your decision to join the camp, I see that you have a healthy mindset towards interpersonal relationships.

  Remember that you can't always make every love you. But then again, as you said, it works both ways: you don't have to love those people who hate you.

  Undergraduate life will be interesting, and it will indeed have its ups and downs. Going it alone won't be easy, and having friends and seniors around will help you make it through, especially in the early semesters when you're still new to the system.

  Oh hey, I'm attending scamp by myself too XD A bit strange without frens tagging along but the purpose is just go have fun :p

  Its strange how they actually have an option in the form that you can choose to group with your own friends =_= thot go camp is to make new frens LOL

  So dun worri abt it, im sure u'll fit in...ah boh we go together lor XD
