I used to hang out very often with my frens after we started working & no time for parents, it was till I got depression, my frens were busy with their work-life, bgr, then married and have kids... my depression still not yet recovered... my frens have no time for me, my parents were always there for me... now I got one fren (one year older than me) told me to treasure my r/s with my parents cos she's an orphan now...
tearjerker post. i can understand. Parents comes first.
i think some of us who spent some time away from parents like in overseas working or studying ect will know the pain.
It improved a bit but went downhill with my upcoming marriage.
So it still sucks now. Can't see it getting any better.

U will know the value of parents a few years later. At yr age, its fun, friends and entertainment and exploration. But when u hit your mid 20s, life starts to bite back. at this stage, IMHO, its most crucial part of your life in terms of emotional support when new responsibilities and burdens start to kick in. I consider it as the 2nd adolescence period and its even more drastic and serious than your teenage years when coupled together with quarter life crisis depression. Whatever happens at this stage of your life will forever determine your emotional makeup for the rest of your life, at least for some , though not for all but its still possible that depression at this stage may affect your later life.. Only yr parents will be able to provide this support more than anyone else.

good to know. Have been in yr shoes too, but i am 10 years younger than u.. At least there is a positive side effect associated with depression.
Wai Leng, are u a male or female?
Something like that . heh
my relationship with my parents are terrific now, and im still 15 (oh well, gg to be 16). i dont know about others, but i think my parents are the most faithful friends i have ever had.
well, who else prepare your breakfast? who else drive me to school? who else spend his money to pay my super expensive piano lessons even sometimes i dont feel like playing anymore? who else keep encouraging me when i am down? who else actually bear that 10months of carrying me inside her tummy? and the list goes on and on and on.. so, i have no reason to NOT love my parents :)

Haha, yeah. You're right. When you're down, your friends desert you, your parents are the ones that comfort you.
They are the ones that stay by your side all the time. It's different from having close friends.
So, there's really NO reason for me to not love my parents. ![]()

I guess you are all lucky to have such supportive parents.
I used to talk to my parents about my problems, but they used them against me later during our arguments. So I have stopped talking to them about my problems ever since.

But, you know something. When i was younger, the relationship with my parents was SO bad to the point, i don't even talk to my parents. I remembered, everytime i talked to them, we would quarrel.
Now that i've grown older, it has improved.

Life has more things to worry about than this, which is something people cannot decide. So, let nature take its course and cherish the present. ![]()
