Had the authority been pragmatic in using
the words to pledge their support to India in fighting terrorist on Thursday
27th November 2008, Ms Lo might stand a chance to be spared.
She stands a high chance of being released because she is a woman and she is
not a westerner as targeted.
The government should show their support to the nation victimized, but the tone should be pragmatic when our people were held as hostage.
When you say
“… Singapore stands firmly behind the Indian government in its fight against terrorism" to the mess media (while Ms Lo was at their mercy), It just sounds too loud, too provocative, and it just endangers Ms Lo outright.
I am not saying that above event is what
causes Ms Lo’s death, just a possibility.
However, when the whole siege is over, you (government) can say what you want.
Over this event, I am disappointed,
very.
The next time if I am held captive by terrorist, I will surely die.
U mean the terrorist can watch TV, hear radio or buy newspaper when they hold the girl captive ?
The right action on the gov is simply no negotiation
to attempt to use the cowardly murder of a citizen by terrorists who were just out to kill as many people as possible for some kind of political gain is just about as despicable as the actions of the terrorist...
and just as cowardly
was she killed by the terrorist or the indian police when they stormed the building?

No negotiation, you are right without doubt, but be tactful with words during the crisis, after the crisis, they can say what their sop requires

when in doubt like this just say the word 'Al Qaida' even if they are not involved this time

If its for political gain, it will be downright despicable, however, its not, its about me, you, or any Singaporean,
if ever come face to face with such threat.

And you are the master mind? Why are all the ppl stupid?
Ms Lo called the Singapore Hicom, to pass a message from the terrorist, to the Indian Parliament, to get the ground troops not to storm the hotel. This kind of message takes time to go up and down the chain of command.
By then the ground troops already breeched the hotel.
are you in agony?
As a forumer here, he has no hope.

actually, i was wondering... did Ms Lo has the word Singapore written on her forehead? Do the terrorist even care about her being singaporean?
another thing will be, do the terrorist or terrorist cell read the news about singapore? wouldn't they be more concerned about completing their mission, rather than to worry about what some faraway country thinks about terrorism?
hmm, i don't think what our govt say at that point of time made a difference la.
Ms Lo was really at the wrong place at the wrong time. Talk about being unlucky.. Just a 2 days 1 night thing, and she's dead like that.
Also.. the terrorists are all looking to create chaos and kill as many ppl as possible before returning home. i believe they would have killed everyone in the end anyway.
