I have a citibank credit card (Clearcard),with outstanding amount of $475 and also outstanding amount handphone bill of $70. I have $600 in my bank currently, what would you do if you were in my shoes? Next pay should be about 400 plus in february and am a financially independent student...
I am thinking of paying $200 for now, next month when pay comes in, Ill pay another $200. I know it sounds illogical this way with the interest accumulating and all but somehow a part of me do not want to see my bank balance fall below $300 bucks.
Anyone has the same kind of habit?
As for the handphone bill, its another thing..My parent offered to pay the full amount for me this month, but I feel that I will be irresponsible if I accept the help but this offer is so tempting...
Would you turn down the offer?
That credit card bill will inflate next month if you don't settle it asap. Had a friend who forgot to settle a $30 credit card bill, inflated to $117 the next month. What the fark man.![]()
just use your current 600 to pay the card bill and survive on the bal till next pay. and your parents can pay that phone bill
Credit cards for students are like financial weapons of mass destruction.
Credit cards for working adults are no different. ![]()

I always pay my CC bills before the statement comes in, and I pay off by rounding off a higher figure, so I will have credit in the account instead.
Beats seeing a huge chunk off your savings when the bill comes in.![]()

pay FULL the credit card bill amount... cc interest is 24%...
bank charge for the fall-below min balance fee is only $2 for most banks...

You are not afraid the CC companies eat your credit balance quietly when you least expect it? ![]()

You'll be mighty surprised. ![]()
Settle ur credit card bill fully first. And for ur situation, best is to cancel ur card and just settle for debit card. u don't want the interest to keep piling up and keep paying rite?
As for the handphone bill, u may ask ur parents to pay for u first and if u really feel guilty about it, pay them back when u have enough money the next time.
easy.
Use your $600 to pay off the CC debts. Do not repeat again (outstanding bills.... maybe you should cancel your card instead?). Please dont pay half-half like that. The interest leh.... the INTEREST.
Then accept the offer from your parents to pay off the phone bills. Next month you can pay yourself again. It is okay 1 la.... family ma.
Wah, the interest so much %?
Last time I checked the statement, the interest quite cheap so I let it overrun lol. OKAY, I'm gona pay my credit card bill now and my phone bill too.
Thanks all.
Come to think of it, this is a great lesson.. Better have it now than next time when my spending power increase.

You didn't know the CC charges an annual interest of 24% ?
Damn. ![]()
Forget to pay any money at all, means penalty + another 24% p.a. interest which starts accumulating from time you spend it. ![]()
