I am seeing quite a number of new threads on "O level" results so i am starting this thread to give a few words of advice that will hopefully help all JAE applicants. If you have other advices feel free to add them in.
1)If you didn't do well for your O levels
You might want to think about retaking the subjects you failed. I myself retook my O levels because i failed English. Now i am final year accountancy student in one of the polys. Some retake students like to study at home using private tuition (like me) others like to go back to their school. Depends on you
2)Poly or JC
Both polys and JCs are excellent routes to take. If you die die want to go local uni and have nothing against secondary school kind of study. JC or MI might be a good choice. I saw that MI is offering quite a number of subjects you are bound to like some of it.
3) Poly choices
Don't go into a course just because your friend is going into it, It is the stupidest thing you can do as you will probably not end up in the same class and also you will miss out the opportunity of making new friends by sticking to the old ones.
Choose courses the maximize your strengths and minimize your weakness. If you are highly creative person accountancy or engineering may not suit you well. If you are quite good with computers, IT may suit you.
Also take into consideration your likes and dislikes
That's all i have for now..good luck :)
And try not to choose poly by location. There is only 5 in Sg...Listen to your heart...
