I showed my wife-to-be any and all pix of ex-es. Up to this day, she knows who played a part in my life, and what part they played and how they shaped my life, good and bad. That is PART of our sharing and communications.
Also told EVERYTHING, right down to nitty gritties, good and bad, even about my previous sex life (of course, sparing her the dirty details lah!)
Once, my CHEEEEBAI X called me at my fiancee's place. Her brother picked up the call. He told her mother. Her mother gently and sensitively spoke with her because her brother and her was worried. At that point, and till now, that CHEEEEEBAI X owes me $$$ big time (5 figures!)
Anyway, she told her mother that she already knew that me and my X were in contact because I was trying like SHHIT to get my money back!
Imagine the mistrust and doubts my fiancee would have had if I didn't tell her everything.
The truth? How open and true to your own personality/self is largely dependent on how comfortable and secure your partner is with herself in life , and with you.

I think this really have to depend on what kind of relationship that you all want. I think this kind of things is best to be honest. anyone who wished to be in a sincere relationship must take the burden of honesty and history of his partner. just to share my experience, i just got attached to someone and showed her pics that i took with my ex. I told her that i dun want to hide anything from her as i want to be honest about these things. Usually, i think gals will appreciate this gesture. But the rule is not to FLOUT IT and brag too much about your past relationship. This makes your present gf feel very bad. So avoid it at all cost! And if you do take this road, you must also be prepared that she will start being honest.. so you had better psycho yourself to be ready if you are not prepared to hear such things. But I feel that if these things are not settled in the early parts of the relationship, it will get harder to swallow later on when everything just spills over and you tend to dig up on anything and everything possible.
