JAE is not a test... It is just a streaming exercise. Admissions for poly is using the L1R4/L1R2B2. In this case your L1R4 is 23 and L1R2B2 for Biz is also 23. You would not be able to enter most if not all of the biz/humanities courses in poly and others in the other fields of study. Is it possible if you reveal your first to third choice in your JAE? Then maybe we forumers can explain(if you had put the wrong choice as you didn't meet the course cut-off).
Im wondering why is it that my friends who got scores like 26, 25 etc still manage to get into some poly, even though their english is like D7 etc.
Can you tell me what i should do in my case now ?

I strongly believe that is the reason why u failed the JAE....
Very dissapointed.
Any advice on what i should do ?
if i were u ... i would
1- try to appeal
2- if all else fail...retake maths...
u noe...most poly course need at least a C6 for maths... even if u like it or not...
and every semester(6 mths) highly probable that there will be maths...
Are you familiar with this D-A-E , J-A-E thing ?
Im confused as to go apply for exercise.
Though i called some poly up, all they do was to ask me to appeal online.
everything is done online nowadays.
Best thing to do, is retake ur math.
math is actually more important than ur english.
or u may try nursing.
when maths, science and english, any1 of them got fail grade...
right now, i guess i only have 2 choices.
1 - Use this whole of 2009 to retake O's
2 - Enrol into private
is there anymore ?
it's because of your maths. most poly courses accept students with d7 english grade but not those who failed their maths. i believe you should retake maths and maybe science, as they are both quite important. good luck

Maths fail, no hope. Dont even bother to apply.
Go retake. don't waste time.

nowadays JAE very competitive... becos low scorers these days can go JC ones yet chose to go poly... hence, spoil market... brought down the cut off points... so... the charts r off...

I'd advise you to retake as private candidate. If you are rich enuff and dun wanna study, you can consider Nanyang Academy Fine Arts/ LasalleSIA if you are artistically talented.
i tink u go private better.

fucking elitists..
Like I said before in your previous thread, with a grade of E8 for Math at 'O' levels - it's not even possible to appeal for polytechnic admission.
Your choice right now is restricted to private schools for your diploma or private schools to retake your 'O' levels as a private candidate. If you were to choose the 'O' levels as a private candidate route, you would probably need to enrol in a private school, lest Mindef decides to draft you.
Dude, seriously.. open your eyes and re-read your previous threads.. instead of opening redundant threads like this..
My post from your other thread.
TS, what are the courses you're aiming for? And where?
Sadly, with a grade of E8 for Math - a polytechnic education seems out of the question. Last I knew, they only consider appeals for a Math grade of not lower than D7, and limited to the least popular courses.
And Mos hit the nail when he said when Math is non-existence, stats' around (Not to mention Calculas and bull). So unless you're very determined to even the scores by putting in a considerably high amount of efforts this time round, you should not even be looking at Business courses.
I think the immediate problem is your next step; what are you going to do?
Pursue an education with the ITE?
Retake your 'O' levels as a private candidate?
Take the road less traveled and go do your diploma/certifications with the private schools?
Few things you must consider:
1) Your budget
2) The private school's reputation & credility (if you're taking the private school route)
3) Which ITE offers the course that interests you (if you're taking the ITE route)
4) If you would want to do 'O' levels Math again
I believe if you would to take your 'O' levels as a private candidate, it's mandatory for your to sign up with a private school to defer your NS.
Take some time and think through it, TS. And good luck :)
Seriously, I know you're troubled. But it's time to get out of the nest and find your own way around. You got out of high school and ain't a kid anymore, can't expect people to spoonfeed you your whole life.

Let me put it in such a way you'd comprehend easily..
English D7 - Can get into poly, on the condition, that they'd retake and pass their language
Math D7 - Same thing as English D7
Math E8 - Wake up, stop feeling sour bout your D7 friends. Find your own way.

Oi! Though I could go to JC I chose to go to Poly.
And I am not a elitist...
But I have to say Singapore is a meritocratic society. You get what you work for.
