Definitely. Cane, slap, whack, bash, and whip. If all at once then winning combo, confirm kid will think twice before committing the same mistake/s.

If "kid" is under 15 all the above quoted are applicable.

There are different factors that can make kids become rebellious and following is only some of them:
- Parents are too controlling and strict
- Kids are in their teenage years
- Parents don't do what they preach
- Parents are being unreasonable eg "because I say so"
Anyway, please give us more background on why you think your kid is rebellious and how old is he/she?

Parent(s) is inconsistent with their teaching in the first place. Cane the parents first, then the kid.

It worked for you because every parents in the past did the same to the kids. So the kids you mixed with had the same punishment at home so you didn't think anything wrong with it.
Don't think it would work these days as most parents have spared the cane. When kids get together and talk about how they get punished at home, kids who get caned at home would start to dislike the parents and start to get rebellious.
